This is Professor Dawkins, he is a nine month old vasa and still weaning-- contrary to the popular belief they wean in 10 weeks.
He is left footed. He loves chicken--vasas are somewhat predatory. He is a bit phobic, but cuddily.
Even at only 380 grams he looks twice the size of my 420gram CAG who he loves. The CAG hates him.

I saw a picture of them in either my Birdtalk Magazine or Birds. I was very intrigued. Professor Dawkins is very handsome. ? Male. Like everyone else I can't wait to hear more about him and see more pictures.

Oh how exciting to have a new species to learn about! I have read a little about them and they seem very intriguing. I love learning about not the normal kept parrots. Please post plenty of photos and stories about Professor Dawkins. :)

I've never heard of them, before now. From the pics you show, Liz, Professor Dawkins looks like a raven with a parrot beak! I'm also intrigued!

Hi Cindy,
I can only say what I have read and it seems like most parrots, some can be and some not so much.

Sure would be great if we had an active member who lives with one to tell us first hand what they have noticed.
