Species: Yellow Crowned Amazon.

Nicknames: Manic Boy :)

Talks: All the time.

Hand Tame: Most of the time.

Where Obtained and how you came together: I bought Codie from a breeder when he was 11 weeks old.

Favorite Foods: Walnuts, Green beans, Chicken bones, Strawberries, Grapes, Pasta, Peas in their pod.

Favorite Toys: Bell.

Quirks, Habits, etc..: Codie always waves when he says "Hello". He also screams when he wants attention!

Where Obtained and how you came together: We went to lunch with Ashies friends/moms the last day of school about 30 minutes from our house. We passed Bird Paradise and decided to stop in on our way home with some of the friends. We met Rosie who was 8 weeks old, Ashie fell in love (she has always had a thing for macaws), I grilled the poor woman working there to make sure we would be a good fit. Ashie came home, cried for a few days until Jef said yes. The rest is history. I think it was meant to be. We had never been to Burlington before and the resturaunt pick was completely out of the blue. Which led us right to BP and a little red ball of feathers.

Favorite Foods: APPLE, pizza crust, cashews

Favorite Toys: Me

Quirks, Habits, etc..: Sings in the shower, plays peek a boo (my son is her favorite playmate for that game), demands Mommy pay attention to her 24/7

Species: Pineapple Green Cheek Conure

Gender: Female

Hatch Date or approximate age: 5 years old (We think she was hatched in 2008)

Nicknames: Pea, Peachy, Ree Ree, Peacha-Burra, Baby Girl

Talks: Yes. She clearly says Peatree, Cookie, Mommy, and Pretty Bird. She also mumbles a bunch of other stuff. She also says Shammy, but only when she is at my friend's house.

Hand Tame: Yes.

Where Obtained and how you came together: I was looking to get a conure to my flock, and after looking everywhere for a few weeks, I found an ad for her on Craigslist. After talking to the owner for about an hour, my parents made arrangements to go meet her, and hopefully bring her home. She came home on December 22nd 2010.

Favorite Foods: Blackberries, Banana, Sunflower Seeds, Peanut Butter.

Favorite Toys: Papery things like finger traps and cupcake liners.

Quirks, Habits, etc..: If she can see a sunflower seed, she turns around multiple times for it.

Name: Jester Bean

Species: Citron Cockatoo

Hatch Date or approximate age: 17 years old

Nicknames: Jess, Jessie, JJ, Bean, Beanie, Mc-Bean-Bean, Handsome, Pretty Boy

Talks: Yes. He can say Hi, Hi Jester, Hi Baby, Hi There, Hello, Jester Bean, Jester, Pretty Bird, Good Boy, and I Love You. He also laughs, barks, and blows kisses.

Hand Tame: Yes

Where Obtained and how you came together: Jester was being fostered by my friend. I really enjoyed hearing about him and seeing pictures of him. I got to meet him at a bird club meeting, and fell in love with him. My mom fell in love with him too, and even my dad liked him. Sadly, he was going to be adopted by another woman. About two weeks later, I got a PM from my friend saying that Jester's adoption had fallen through. I was so happy, and I started crying and shaking. The next day we went out a got a cage for him, and then a day or two later, we picked him up. (:

Favorite Foods: Bread, Corn on the Cob, Noodles, Rice, Grapes

Favorite Toys: Boxes stuffed with tissue paper and treats, wood, anything he can shred

Quirks, Habits, etc..: Every night before bed, he shoves his foot out of his cage to hold my finger and he lets me kiss his beak. He screams if he is left alone in a room. If there is something he wants on the tray of his stand, he hangs upside down and swings back and fourth until he gets it.

Quirks, Habits, etc..: The swing in the bird cage is HERS. She will not share with anyone. Although, when her girlfriend Hermione was alive, she would share with her.

Nicknames: Boogs

Talks: he says, "Hi there" and just today I heard him say "Hi Sassy"! That was pretty exciting!

Hand Tame: Yes but only with me :(

Where Obtained and how you came together: a friend needed someone to take care of him while she was moving and he ended up here, forever.

Favorite Foods: corn, broccoli, pine nuts, baby sweet peppers, Serrano peppers, oatmeal, oranges, sometimes banana.

Favorite Toys: wood, anything wood.

Quirks, Habits, etc..: he's hilarious when he gets spinning around a branch, that he is holding onto with his feet! He reminds me of the high bar gymnasts! (Except they are holding on with their hands) ! :)

Nicknames:Butt Boy, Rah Row (his version of Roscoe, he can say his name fine when he wants to)

Talks: Oh Yeah!! More than he needs to at times! Can say lots of things.

Hand Tame: Absolutely!

Where Obtained and how you came together: Came from Star Palms Aviary in Hargill, TX. from Vicki Bonham Shields. Jerry saw a GCC at Petsmart he liked really well. He wanted that bird, but I didn't like the price they wanted for such a small bird. He told me we should get another parrot. We had 2 budgies at the time, but they weren't hand tame. That opened the door for me to finally get the parrot of my dreams, my Green Wing Macaw. Well I didn't find any GWs available at the time. I did find a very cute and adorable widdle colorful 2 month old Catailna and fell in love with his photo. That was in Nov of 2011 and I put my deposit down on him and waited for him to finish weaning. On 01/20/2012 we drove over 300 miles to meet Vicki in San Antonio, an equal distance for her as well, to meet my first macaw, my Roscoe and take him home. The wonderful, get to know my new baby trip I envisioned didn't happen quite that way. About 235 miles from home our transmission went out on our pickup. We ended up having to be towed and ride in tow truck while my macaws (Angel came home that day too) rode alone in the pickup on the trailer it was loaded onto. it added another 2 hrs to our already long trip and got home at 12:30am the next morning. Roscoe & Angel took the trip in stride, me not so much. I was a total stressed out mess & it took a couple of weeks before my 'hyper, spring wound up too tight, about to explode' feeling quieted. I just knew I was going to be stranded a long way from home with two young macaws who didn't know me and no way to get to familiar territory. I was never so happy to see home as I was when that tow truck rounded the curve to my quaint little house.

Favorite Foods: Pistachios~~End of report!! By far his favorite and he will do anything for one.

Favorite Toys: Ropes that he swings on like a monkey in the trees.

Quirks, Habits, etc..: Has to yank the pad lock bar out once I get it unlocked. It is a long U shape and not attached to the lock itself. Then he flips the gate latch up and likes to climb out where he knows he isn't supposed to.

Loved your story De'Andrea! I would have been a nervous reck, too with 2 young macaws and no transportation and relying on a tow truck driver. How nerve racking! But you all survivied! ;)

Quirks, Habits, etc..: She was not a tame budgie, but she loved to hang out with me as long as I didn't try to touch her. She would fly over and sit next to me, or sometimes even on me, and she would just watch what I was doing. She loved Peatree! She never gave up trying to be friends with her, even though Peatree would chase her away. She would also sometimes pull Peatree's tail! If I had food, and she saw it, she would fly over and try to steal it from me. She would also try to drink from my cup. Out of all of my budgies, I think she had the funniest personality. (:
