View Full Version : Have your birds taught you anything?
Mine sure have. Even more than what I learned by having children! Children taught me patience, birds have taught me how to quiet my heart, being patient to the point of almost dying. Letting go,, that was a biggie for me,, not worrying about the mess they make and the things that they've destroyed.
Is there anything else you all may have learned that I might have missed out on?

I, too, have learned from my birds to accept random property destruction as a way of life ;). But most of all, I've learned just how genuine and unconditional the love from these magnificently wonderful feathered beings can be... and I've reaffirmed many times over that parrots are my very favorite companions. They are indeed a precious gift and each of them should be eternally cherished. My late best human friend Terrie Morris (Salsa's mom) used to tell me how her birds loved her unconditionally no matter what her life status happened to be or how she looked at a particular moment. She said the fact that they were always there with plenty of love, and that she could absolutely count on that love on a continual basis was the most fulfilling part of her life. Terrie's birds gave her years of joy that she would have otherwise been without... and in a way, her birds (in conjunction with my birds) gave us our friendship :'( ...I wouldn't trade knowing Terrie for anything! And I thank my birds (and her birds) for that :)

"How do I love thee?" "Let me count the ways." :th_hug8::th_heart:
Yes I did plagiarize that little gem (excerpt), but it does describe in a big way what my birds have taught me. No matter how little they may see me like on my work days or when I am just too darn busy to spend quality time with them, they love me unconditionally. I have grown accustom to seeing Angel my special boy hanging from his wire top by just his beak, legs straight out wiggling while he screams, "Hello~~Hello" as soon as I walk in from work early in the morning. It doesn't matter how rotten a night I had at work, that melts it all away and makes going back all the more worth it so they can live a comfortable life with me.
They have taught me to be truly honest with myself. And to slow my pace down and really enjoy my life. Their antics and crazy conversations have taught me that one only needs the comforts of home to be truly happy. :th_grouphug2:
