Here is a good link for you to bookmark. It shows a chart on how loud each species of parrot is :)

Haha as I was reading this I read that Quakers are moderate in being loud. My two were making a mockery of that they were so loud.

I have never heard a Quaker! Most people think IRN's are loud too, but I don't think they are!

Quakers can be quite loud. Mine really get loud when I start covering them for the night. Once covered, though, they are quiet until morning.

I have to agree with the noise for green wings. Rosie let a few screams loose today when she was on my shoulder. My ear is still feeling cloggy. I know I have some permanent hearing loss in one of my ears from her.

I found it interesting that they listed cuddliness for GW as Fair. I always thought GW were pretty cuddly and sweet tempered, a second to Hys. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones with a super clingy girl. ;)

At my house the Eclectus is the loudest [he sounds like a fog horn] and Pearl [my goffin sounds like a wailing baby. Both I don't think are normal [for their species]. These poor guys have an insecurity [that I think makes them like that.]

I have to disagree as well. My Caiques are the loudest. Louder and more vocal than either my Amazon or my Sun

As far as Macaws, if my 4 serve as any example, I have to slightly disagree with the chart.

Zaf's cuddliness factor is GREAT! I would even describe it as EXCELLENT and beyond anything I have ever experienced with any pet in my life!

Maynard's loudness is certainly not moderate! He's the loudest of my 4 in that he has a horribly shrill tone to his incessant screams and he actually enjoys his screaming sessions. Maynard and Jack are by far the loudest members in my flock. Salsa would rather talk than scream... and when he does decide to scream, it's much less shrill and thus much less irritating to me than the screaming of Maynard or Jack. Zaf rarely screams, but when he does his voice is not irritating to me at all.

Tony ,does Maynard and Jack talk ?Jack can only say "hello" and Maynard can only scream ;). Salsa and Zaf are my only 2 real talkers... but strangely, Zaf hasn't said much since his broken leg accident. Salsa talks enough for everyone, though!

Very interesting chart to say the least. It has good points & as we are all pointing out, some discrepancies. I found it very interesting that it lists Amazons as being quite cuddly. I would suspect some species of Zons are more so than others, but the two I had were not cuddly in any sense of the word. They much preferred to be held on the hand and get scratches when they were in the mood, but not cuddle up close and snuggle at all.

My most cuddly birds are my GCC Peta and my GW Ruby Jewel. Both were spoiled with lots of cuddles from their former owners, Peta from the lady who bought her from the pet shop and Ruby Jewel from her breeder who almost didn't want her to go when it was time for her to fly home to me. Roscoe used to be almost as cuddly as Ruby Jewel, but he is in his terrible twos now and is a royal imp these days.

My macaws are loud when they scream, typical of the species. But that little redheaded Ekkie girl can hold her own when wanting to be heard! Her screams sound like crows sound when they are calling in the wild. It is a very raspy 'caw caw' sound. The Catalina boys were even taken aback when Leyla Belle first joined the flock and heard her sound off. :) Ruby Jewel can be as loud as Roscoe and Angel when she feels like it. She doesn't partake in screaming as much as they do, hers is mostly when I am fixing her food and wants me to hurry so she can get back into her enclosure and eat. And as little as Peta the GCC is, she can be very annoying when she actually screams. It is so shrill it grates on my nerves much more than the loudness of the macaws screams do.

I find the noise level on the ekkies to be strange. Lucy is by far my quietest one! When she does make a noise it's either a coo sound or a single aaacckkk sound. She only does that one when she wants out of her cage or when she wants people to notice her when we're out with her. All of my other birds can sound off making my house sound like a jungle and she will just sit there quietly looking pretty.

Amazons are very far from being cuddly and Codie only wants scritches on his terms! He is quite happy to perch on my hand, pull my hair to pieces, or try to remove buttons from my jeans, but as for cuddles!! Not a chance! :th_loltears:
