Do any of you have a separate sleep cage for your birds?

I don't have one. Codie likes to sleep in his usual cage. I know many people have them, but personally, I cannot see the point in them! What are your thoughts on this?

With 12 birds I don't have room for sleep cages. My guys are happy sleeping in the cages they have during the day.

I'm with you, Wendy. I don't see a point for them either! My birds all sleep in their normal cages. (:

I have used them in the past and my birds really liked them . In the wild birds do not play and eat in there sleep spots. And its nice to see another cage at the end of the day. IMO. Now with Paris here I have given up the practice. But I have thought about doing it again. I used there travel cages as sleep cages. So its a bunch of dog crates lined up on my dresser. If you have a bird that spooks easy having them in a small cage with out hanging toys or lots of room really helps with injury from night frights also. I also think it helps when you only have one bird. When the rest of its human flock goes to bed and shuts doors this leaves it out all by itself with no flock protection.

Now I am not saying all birds need one. As I said I am not doing it at this time and all is going well. But I have seen parrots with issues turn around and become much nicer when put in a sleep cage in the room with you. I tried to get Boomer owner to do this for him to see if it would help him rest better and be less jumpy. (He had night frights and would hit the bottom of the cage hard a couple times a night) He was in a travel cage the first couple nights here and then in his own and has not had a incident once being with the flock.

I think Codie would be very upset if I suddenly transferred him to a small sleep cage :(

As Codie has no issues I would not do it either. :D I also use it as practice so when we get to go on a trip everyone is very relaxed in the travel boxes also, but this can also be done using them as a daytime dining room that is very easy to clean out once the wet stuff has be tossed everywhere!

I have quite a large travel cage that I use to take him in the garden during the summer months. He doesn't object to this as he loves it outside. He also goes in it no problem when I have to transport him to the vet, but he loves his own cage and likes to sleep in there. He is very protective over his cage and does not like anyone going near it! I am in great danger of serious injury if I dare to put my hand in his cage while he is in it :(

I did not know he was cage aggressive. :( That is no fun.

I did not know he was cage aggressive. :( That is no fun.He is awful Shelly! I have never known a bird to be quite so cage aggressive as Codie :( He won't even step onto me from inside his cage now. I have to open the door and let him come out himself! Once he is out I am then able to do anything with him :)

Amigo and Sassy have living room cages and different cages, for sleep, in their bird room. They know it's time for night-night when they are in them. Sometimes I'll put them back there, just for the quiet, but most times, (unless Amigo's outside), will hang out in the living room area. Chip's cage stays in the living room area and I cover him at night.
