Okay, I confess to rifling through Codie's' fruit mix and helping myself to the tasty bits at feeding time. (especially the orange) [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks] I have also been known to grab a walnut or two for culinary use. :th_wink:
Time for you all to confess to your birdie sins :th_hehe:

I buy unsalted cashews for my guys (especially for Zaf, since he loves them so much) and I've been having quite a difficult time refraining from dipping into them, myself. They were $9.99 for a 13.5 oz. container... but now they have reduced the container size to 10.5 oz. with the same $9.99 price. Since I still have to get them, I find myself having a very difficult time resisting the temptation to grab a few each time I open the container :(.
I also buy plenty of organic bananas for my birds... the problem is that I'm hooked on bananas myself. I crave them with Nutella smeared on them and often find myself eating quite a few. That's usually okay though, since bananas only last for so long anyway - someone has to eat them before they become too ripe. But I can't make any excuses for the cashews :darn:

They actually weren't that bad. :th_LOL: They had a slight fruity flavor. The texture wasn't pleasant. They were very gritty.

Have you tried banana on toast? You have to squash it and spread it with a knife though :th_biggrin:No. But I'll have to try it. It sounds like the somewhat riper bananas would be best to use for this purpose due to being softer and thus easier to spread.

For shame! Stealing from the mouths of birdies!

Before this whole diet business, I could not resist sharing Rosie's unsalted Cashews and Pistachios. There were a couple of nights that the dogs and I were happily cracking/munching in bed. That generally would end with my husband unhappily waking up and asking what the heck we were doing/eating & to please stop. Way too noisy I guess. ;)
Nutella is my downfall!! Love that stuff. I used have have it with an apple. Rosie had her apple and I had a little apple with my big heap of nutella every afternoon. YUM!

Well I use fruit Zoopreen as training treats, my teens love fruit loops type cereal , well I have a habit of dishing them both up into ziplock bags. Any ways I have more than once found myself holding a bag of cereal later in the day and getting a angry text from a teen that I sent bird food to school with them ....again.

Well now, we all have some strange tastes when it comes to eating our bird's foods. All except George (Grey) and I'm venturing a guess he is not fessing up to being as birdie normal as the rest of us with his munching of bird snacks. :th_pinklol2:
Tony your Nutella with banana reminds me of way back in the dark ages my first job was at our local Dairy Queen. They had what was called frozen chocolate dipped bananas they made there by sticking a Popsicle stick into the rear end of the poor banana and dipping it in the chocolate covered ice cream cone melted chocolate. I tried one and I did not find it a delicacy of mine. The only way I like bananas are well chilled and not too overly ripe. I can't stand the strong taste of a really ripe banana. :th_eek: I do like Nutella, but my way of eating it is simply by the spoonfuls straight. Oh and I love homemade banana pudding with none of that artificial banana pudding stuff in it! I can make a pretty good banana pudding from scratch with lots of vanilla wafers. :)
So now I must confess I suppose. Welp, since I have 3 young macaws in my flock of course I keep lots of shelled and not shelled nuts to keep them happy. I will gladly admit to nibbling nuts out of the container I keep the shelled ones in while I am doling out their portion. And I do take pieces of dried fruits from the containers while giving that on those days. :th_LOL: I'm not a connoisseur of breakfast foods, so I figure eating a few of their snacks is my contribution to a healthy morning meal. I have tasted a pelleted food on occasion to see why they throw a certain brand more on the floor and the consensus is~~I wouldn't eat that yucky stuff either. :hehe2: And I do eat Miss Ruby Jewel's grapes while I am busily cutting up the rest of the fresh veggies for the flock. She loves grapes, they are her favorite fruit.

If this happens, I will simply have to stop eating it! :th_LOL:Nutella contains hazelnuts and skim milk, so it's healthier than chocolate frosting. But it as well contains lots of sugar.

Nutella contains hazelnuts and skim milk, so it's healthier than chocolate frosting. But it as well contains lots of sugar.Yes, it is quite high in sugar. I normally have it on toast. Tiegan likes it in Pancakes :)
When my youngest son was in grade school, he came up with a concoction of p-nut butter and banana sandwich and then he GRILLED it! He loved them but I bet they would be even better with an added shmear of Nutella!
I do share the nuts with my birds, I have to admit. When the almond in a shell stash starts to get low, though, I have to back off! :)

I confess that when I buy nuts to make cookies, I buy extra so I can have unsalted raw nuts for my parrots. I even bought canisters specifically for their nuts that they allow me to use to make cookies.
Bless me Father for I have sinned:
Today I cut up a pomegranate for the kids. A few seed came loose and I ate them, then I ate a few more...and a few more. So for their mid-morning snack my kids had frozen blueberries.
One of my guiltiest pleasures is snuggling with Lola. When she is completely relaxed and content, she exudes the most HEAVENLY aroma and I inhale deeply to the point that my partner yells "I hear you snorting the parrot again! Leave her alone!"

Gee aren't we supposed to make sure that their food tastes good? Except for the powder stuff I sprinkle on Lady's food sometimes I try just about everything. I think this is why I enjoy cooking for her. She eats from my plate at dinner and I sample her food as well :).
Sometimes I eat her fruit when she is taking forever to eat it from my hand. If I put it in her bowl she throws it out.

I don't really sample the birds food anymore. However, I have to make sure that all the birds are locked away when I am eating anything due to them trying to get at my mouth when I take a bite. The last time Bella was out when I was eating, she tried to take off with my pork chop....lol.

Do you make your own birdie bread or do you use a mix, I am looking for recipes. Especially since Charlie has a birthday coming up :p97:
