Do you cover your birds at night and if you do what do you cover with?

My tiels and budgies are in a room by themselves and even though they have cages, they are cage free. Needless to say, all we do is turn out their light and close the door at bed time. They quickly settle in and get quiet as soon as the light is off. For Frankie, Little Amber, and Lucy, however, they are in the living room and since we are usually still up when we put them to bed at 7:30 we cover them. Lucy and Amber are not chewers of their covers so we cover them with a blanket. It's thick enough to provide more darkness when they are trying to sleep. Frankie, however, is a chewer. We cover him with a sheet. Right now, it's a jersey sheet that was off my daughter's old twin bed. It is now full of holes. :th_hehe:

Give us a little peek into your life with your birds!

I cover Codie at around 9.30 pm. He always knows when it is time, as he automatically goes to the back of his cage and gets on the perch he sleeps on :) Once he is covered I do not hear another peep out of him, even though I am still in the same room on my computer :)

I cover Harry and Sally at 9pm as they snuggle up on top of their cozy hut at this time and go to sleep!

I cover Jester between 9 and 10. I cover him with blue sheets from his previous home.

Peatree gets covered with with a blanket, and so do Dobby and Bella. They get covered when I go to sleep.

I do not cover, I just go to bed between 9 and 10. When I was covering they drove me nuts saying "Hello?" and anything else to get me to come talk to them.

Ours are all covered.Mostly old bedsheets and some blankets. They usually head to their sleeping perch once covered.Cockatoo usually protests and screams a bit then doses off.

This is interesting. Luckily for my birds, I go to bed the same time as they do. Unluckily for my birds, I get them all up at 4:30 in the morning when we get up. Needless to say, they are ready by 7:30. Sometimes as early as 7.

I do not cover Rosie. Her cage is in what was the dining room. She goes to bed sometime between 7 - 9. I turn off the lights in the rooms closest to her. She can see every room from her vantage point, but if anyone is downstairs it would be in the family room which is furthest from her. Generally though, once she goes to bed we all head upstairs.

I am determined to get those photos of my covered enclosures uploaded next time off and get back to this thread as well! this is getting ridiculous with my internet and imageshack. :(

I use various things from blankets to sheets to shower curtains to cover my flock on nights I am home and not at work.
