I have no idea how she broke it. It appears that one feather is left. That is broke too and hangs to the side. It doesn't stop her from being little miss attitude. She is such a baby. She is scared of the camera.

Sorry to hear this Kim! Hopefully her tail feathers will grow back quickly!

This happened to Codie back last year and they grew back within about 6 months :)

What?! Did you just wake up one morning and her tail was gone? Wow, I've never heard of such a thing! Does Mina fly? I guess she couldn't now if she did. This is bizarre! I hope Mina recovers from her loss,,still..I have to say,,bizarre!

No she has been losing them gradually. They just keep breaking. Not sure what she is doing. She doesn't fly yet. Thanks for all the complements. Now I noticed she is barbering the feathers that are coming in on her tail! She doesn't pluck or anything anywhere else. Maybe if I sprintz her tail every other day.

Sounds like she is snipping them off :(. My Sassy Goffin's girl barbers her chest, half the year. The other half year, she allows it to grow back. I hope little Mina will get through this without it getting worse.

I'm sorry to hear that :( if that last one is broken, I would pull it out. That way all her tail feathers grow back in.

Poor Mina girl! :th_hug8: It happens, sometimes they just get in the way of something she is playing on or the cage and brake off very easy. Glad it wasn't a blood feather or you would have had to pull it. In time they will grow back and she will be the gorgeous Princess Mina again.:th_biggrin:

Angle my handicapped Catalina macaw's tail feathers all fell out within 3 month's of coming to live with me. And if you've never seen a tailless macaw, it can be a bit on the funny side to see. He was tailless for nearly a year and after the new ones grew in he never lost them all at once again.

Codie breaks his tail feathers all the time, where he plays so rough :(
