It's gotten icy and usually when it gets this way we lose power. So, since my hubby got the generator operable and it's only big enough to run one heater, we've moved Lucy, Amber, and Frankie into the bird room so we can keep that heater going should/when we lose power. I'm hoping that we've moved them for nothing, but we're playing it on the safe side. All of the birds are upset by this, but they'll get over it.

They've already called and said school will be delayed 2 hours. I'm thinking the roads on my route will not be clear by 8 in the morning as it's a country route and they don't sand country roads around here. We shall see, though.

Oh wow, I hope that you did move them for nothing and your power stays on. Be careful driving tomorrow!

I think we are getting your storm and two others all at the same time very early Thursday morning. It is going to culminate into a nor'easter and it looks like it will be a 24 hour storm. Up to 18 inches. UGGH! So ready for Spring already!

Stay safe and warm!!

So you two will still have to watch the weather and hope nothing serious happens tomorrow? I so hope you don't lose power Debra and Kendra. That is a serious problem with our birds health concerns. :th_hug8: I just wonder what folks who still don't have power in the north east are doing if they have birds or animals? It is so hard to move them to safer places if it persists for a long time. I can relate to your birds not liking to be moved Debra. My Leyla Belle absolutely will not have it if I try to move her cage anyplace but where she started out with me. Shes a screaming mess & the redheaded demon comes out in her!

We had our cold and icy conditions Monday & today. It's been in the low 20s and I haven't checked for the wind chill yet. We fortunately did not get very much ice, just what the fog dropped, but no real precipitation. Abilene which is south of us got it all for our area and I don't envy the one least bit. The weatherman said tonight our temps will be around 19 in the morning and warm up to the mid 50s by late afternoon. Sounds good to me since I go back to work tomorrow evening. The rest of the week is supposed to be in the 70s for our highs. Yippie!! I may break out my shorts & go sun myself in those temps!!:th_hehe:

We ran out of firewood so I called this morning and it was delivered by lunchtime. I think they took pity on me since I was panicked. :) I figure if we lose power at least we can keep warm by the fireplace.

Main concern here is a loss of power. I am surrounded by trees for miles and miles. Last ice storm a huge tree fell across the road and the road was closed for several days. Deb it is good to be proactive. I have a small propane heater that is supposed to be safe in an emergency but have been afraid to use it. Hope everyone in this storm's path stays safe and warm.

Thankfully we didn't lose power. The birds are all happy now that they are back in their places or have their visitors out of their room. The roads weren't too bad this morning like we thought they would be. Mainly the bridges. I had crossed the big one safely in my bus and within about 5 minutes it was on the radio that there was a wreck on it and they were closing it off to clear it. This is the only way into the town from the south so we were lucky all those buses made it through before the wreck happened. Coming back through it had warmed up some and it wasn't as bad -- but I was still very careful. We got home and it's like someone is pouring water down our roof. lol. There must have been a lot of ice and the sun is melting it. We're a whopping 34 degrees F now so everything is melting. Thank goodness!

I will say, however, that it was nice getting to sleep in until 6:30! A full 2 hours of extra sleep. Woo hoo!
