My bird club met today. The weather was perfect and we all had a fantastic time!

This is my new friend, Sassy the Mustached Parakeet. He's such a sweetie, and he's adorable too! He ate a whole shelled almond, and it was so cute watching him chip away at the shell.

This is The Doctor. His owner also has a amazon named River. I love his name choices! :th_biggrin:

My friend brought his foster bird, a Major Michell's Cockatoo named Major. He doesn't like females, however, I held him and he even let me scritch his head a bit. After awhile he got a little nippy, but I think it's cool I got to hold him. (:

My Jester had a great time as well. He really enjoys being outside!

Jester is not harness trained. He can't fly. However, I would like to start harness training him so that he will be okay with wearing one when his wings grow in.

I would highly recommended it. Even a trimmed bird can catch a updraft and fly a good ways. I have every one but the parrotlet and the new CAG harnessed trained. it is well worth it!

How nice to get to meet with others that share your love of parrots! I wished my area had bird clubs or socials or something in way of get togethers. Major seems quite comfy on your arm, you definitely have a way with birds. :th_biggrin:

A lady I know who lives 150 miles away wanted to start a bird social once a month meet a couple of years ago. She invited everyone she could find who had parrots to her house. At least 5 other people with parrots were supposed to come that lived in the same town as her. We, the ones who lived the farthermost away were the only ones to show up. I didn't bring my birds as I hadn't had them for very long at the time. She gave that idea up since no one wanted to participate. :(

Great pics!! I think it's great you have a club and can meet outside!! Rosie despises her harness and it isn't safe for me to have her outside without cover anyway. We have hawks here that constantly circle the area here and my vet said they have been known to just swoop down and pluck birds off their owner. :( So I am envious!! :)

It's a shame they don't have clubs for bird lovers everywhere- they should. :(
