Nope. Jef agreed to bring her home, but there is no love with Rosie and Jef. He can't stand the loud screaming whenever I am out of her vision. Rosie tolerates everyone but really only wants me. Hoping this will change as the years go by.

Ben deals with Josie in his own way....food bribes. The kids usually find her antics funny unless she starts yelling during a tv show they want to watch. I'm lucky that just when Josie pushes Ben to his limit she will do something so funny he can't help but laugh. I'm also hoping she will learn to tolerate others besides me,

Isn't it something when a person comes into your home and gets their feeling hurt because you bird will not tolerate them? My mom tries so hard to get Josie to like her and for whatever reason, Josie despises my mom.

You are right on the money. I have told him this and given him suggestions. Like make friends and interact before she starts screaming. Running to her with an apple when she is having an anxiety induced screaming fit will not help. He hadn't been heeding my advice, and I am guessing it is bc he is so frustrated with the noise. I believe in time they will work it out. We just have to get there. Baby steps... :)

Doug is for the most part ok with the birds. Hard to believe a man could live to be 47 before he had a pet in his house! Now he accepts them, interacts with them occasionally, and sighs if I talk about getting another one.

Jerry is just fine with my birds. He is hard of hearing so he can sleep right through their screams. :th_LOL: Jerry already knows there is no telling me NO on anything! But to be honest it was his idea to get birds larger than budgies which we had at the time again. Although he was not expecting me to bring home not 1 but 3 of the largest species (meaning macaws in general, I know there are much larger macaws than mine) of parrots I could find.

The poor guy as big & tall as he is was looking at a little green cheek conure at the pet shop when he thought this new idea of another bird up. Oh Boy, that left the door open for me to finally fulfill my dream of having my dream bird~~a green wing macaw! Jerry did get his green cheek, but it was a few months later when we acquired Peta through a mutual friend. She is the only one out of the flock who will readily let him pick her up. He is a bit sad that none of the other birds including Sierra will have anything more to do with him than snatch a treat from his hands. Stand too close afterwards and he gets a smart bite for the intrusion. LOL

My hubby Nick is as big of an animal nut as I am, but then again, we did meet because he came into the pet store I was working at to buy a monitor lizard :)

At first, Jerry was like "Oh, no, not another animal" :th_laughing8:. Now it's "No, not another bird" :th_bignono:. He loves our birds though -- especially Lucy (she and Tex are the only ones who like him).

We had Amigo (who did not like men) then I brought in Sassy Goffin's girl (who prefers men) and then little Chip needed a home and here we are. I'm/we are very fortunate that Tim is such a compassionate man or we would have been set free many moons ago! Not that I need more birds but I've brought up that maybe we should get one more so's Chip could have a friend :). Well...so far, the story goes,,"If I bring home ONE more bird, he is moving out!" There are days when I think about bringing home a dozen! heehee!:th_biggrin: See ya later alligator!

No significan other here so I have no one but myself to say "no more birds" Every time I go to work at Petco I want to bring one of them home with me. It is really a fight to keep my self control in charge.

That so reminds me of when Jory was still living at home. I have no idea where this kid came from~~seriously! He was never a big animal person. I still think they got him & the little redheaded baby girl mixed up who was born 20 mins before him.:th_hehe: He was always like, "Mom, don't you think you have enough birds?" "Mom, why do you always do this?" I told him he was just like my Mother who wouldn't let me satisfy my need for animals as a child, so look at me now. :) I also told him I would have loved to have me as a Mom. But...I got stuck with a child who doesn't like animals. LOL Now his wife gets the, "Don't you think we have enough cats already?" They are cat people and they only have 5. My grandkitties!! :th_hug8:

And Terri I did take 2 birds, my Nanday Conure and my 1st Amazon I had back then to school and 2 iguanas and a ferret and Jory's ball python. He kept telling his teachers all the critters we had & they told him his Mom should bring them to school one day, so I did!! :th_biggrin:

I brought my rocks & mineral collection to school when Jory was in Elementary, I think the 5th grade. It was a big hit with all the little fingers and hands feeling the rocks, some they had never seen before in real life.

De'Andrea - your story about Jory hits home here. My son is not an animal person, any new species makes him incredibly nervous. We once had a baby bunny fall in our pool (I think Connor was about 5) and he didn't want me to put it down after I fished it out until he got back in the house. Mind you, he was about 30 feet from me to begin with. ;)

We just booked out spring break trip which is a cruise. :) My daughter was very excited that one of our stops offers swimming with dolphins. My son said, "NO WAY MOM! I am NOT swimming with those things. They could bite my leg off!" He absolutely kills me, so opposite of his mom. I love all animals as does my daughter. She is still begging for a teacup pig and a giant bunny. Not happening, unless we want Jef and Connor to pack their bags and move out. ;)

My family is okay with my birds. My mother loves Jester and Peatree, however, she dislikes the budgies. She holds Jester, and sometimes Peatree if she (Pea) is in a nice mood. My dad also likes Jester and Peatree, and he HATES the budgies. Out of my seven budgies he only ever liked Weasley. Jester loves my dad so much. But my dad doesn't enjoy holding him. He usually only holds him if we have company over, so he can show off. :( My sister doesn't really care about my birds. She likes the budgies, and chases them and torments them constantly. :(

My best friend loves my birds! Although she thinks I'm a little crazy :th_hehe: but she loves having them all out and helping me make bird toys for them. She's really excited about the new Green Cheek. She's hoping that he's nicer then Peatree so she can hold him. :th_biggrin:

Kendra that is strange how your son is that touchy about animals. Has he ever been frightened by one or hurt by an animal to feel that way? I know there are just folks who don't care to be around animals especially birds.

Jory is so good with birds. My first group of birds he could hold any of them as well as I could and didn't mess with them much. He just has a way with animals. They can see right through his claim to not like them. He didn't try to hold any of my birds while down except Peta who seems to love everyone she meets. :) Roscoe was the only bird who clearly did not like a stranger in his home!!

De'Andrea - no, he has never had a bad experience. Crazy, right? He is used to our pets and is fine around any species of animal he knows. But any new species of animal is nerve wracking.

What is really funny is animals and small children love him. They gravitate to him. I can't even count how many times toddlers we don't know have come over to him. The dogs and Rosie love him and he loves them. Rosie actually calls him PeekABoo bc that is what they play. She kisses him every chance she gets. Funny. But he is a very cautious guy. Very much like his dad, who does not like any kind of change/new things. It is so bad with Jef that when I paint a new color on the walls it throws him for about a week. But that is a whole different thread. ;)

I love love love all animals. Sometimes I think more than people. Is that bad? But you can trust them they don't hurt you, intentionally that is. My husband has put up with our small petting zoo from rats to dogs cats now my umbie. He was not at all sure about her. He has no choice because she is totally in love with him. She loves me to. I'm mom. (Not sure what he is lol). Lesleigh my daughter and her are arch enemies. My daughter hates her with a passion. My hubby has already said NO MORE. 😥
