You find yourself not only laying on the floor, but then slowly rolling over to try to get the large macaw off your mid back and into her cage for the night. After 15 minutes of sweet talking, begging, fighting, reaching for feet and almost crying in frustration I gave up and just laid down on the floor. UGGH! For the last month, this seems to be our routine. Bedtime has become something between a nightmare and a slapstick comedy at my house. Rosie has no interest and goes right to the spot of my back I can't reach her. Little Devil! I swear, if any of my neighbors ever sees me they are going to think I am absolutely insane!! ;)

Anyone else have something ridiculous that they have had to resort to thanks to our fine feathered friends?

You mean the the game "keep away ,cant get me off your back ] he he :) We play that game . But Harlows smaller [I bet a GreenWing is fun] Harlow eats dinner with us every night . When its time to take her back. She grabs on to the back of my neck and flaps her wings Hard !! I feel like were going to take off . I hate it [and I think she knows it] But does it every chance she gets .

Yes, Terri, that would be the game. Loads of fun!!

Rosie likes to do the attach and flap too. It is crazy, she grabs on to the back of my neck, shirt, even pants and flaps, fast and furious. She even does it upside down, squealing the whole time. Looney birds!! ;)

Don't worry, Kendra, you are not alone! Sometimes, when I call Amigo to get his feathered butt home, he will land on the roof then walk over to the rain gutters, hang upside down (to get a better look at me), grab the gutter with his beak, hang his feet down but as soon as I put my hands up for him to grab..he flips back up to the roof! This goes on for about ten minutes. I finally get the step stool out and spend about five more minutes peeling each toe off from around the rain gutter, uggh, yep, good word!

I have Black Headed Caiques. I have to be very vigilant when they are on me. Their favorite game now is a modified chase: Zoe will dive into my shirt collar and start running around in there. Lucifer will chase the fast moving lump while I scream like a girl and try to fish Zoe out without losing any tender bits

Oh My I have not laughed at bird antics so much in a looong while!! Ya'll are too funny with your birds.:th_loltears: I do feel left out tho as I don't have any funny bird antic stories about getting my flock to come in for the night and go in their homes. :th_sad7:

My group all know when Mama says it's time to go we best be hoping on her arm & head for the house! Actually it is the pistachio treats that Roscoe is greedily after. He now picks up not one but three pistachios in his greedy beak before he gets to his home. Angel is already on his portable play perch and all I have to do is push it up to his door & he climbs right in. Then he gets his pistachios.

I tell Ruby Jewel it is time to go and she climbs right on my arm looking toward her home and I am telling her, "What do we have?" "What do we have?" "We have pistachios and grapes and and" whatever I may have put in her bowl for her to find when she gets in. She will take a pistachio from the treat bowl, but she prefers me to add her treats to the bowls before we head back.

Even Sierra has learned when Mama offers her hand inside the door of her cage it is "Get out of Jail" time on the play perch and when Mama offers her hand to go back in it is "Lock Up time again" and no "Late Night Rack Up" for her! Her treat for both rides to & from the cage is a back of the head scratch. On the play perch she is sometimes reluctant to get on my hand, but I just offer again while telling her to step up & she gets the message. :)

I knew I would have to be able to get my flock back in their cages in a hurry when I am rushing out the door for work in the afternoons, so I started early conditioning them to the treat system. My kids are good kids, but I do still feel left out with no funny stories to tell. :(

De'Andrea-you have good babies. I only hope this particular looniness will end soon.

I actually meant anything that is ridiculous, not just bed time. :) Although I am glad to know I am not alone with nighttime antics!! :)

The only one we have any kind of antics with is Tex. He wants to be on the tallest person so whoever is standing he goes to. Once on said person, it's time to "taste" everything and try to get the blemishes off. His beak is super pointy too so it really hurts even when he's being gentle. There's no shooing him off either. He will fly a little distance and turn around and come back. He's a persistent little buggar.

LOL, it is just ridiculous. Since my husband avoids the insanity at all costs, I can't even imagine how we would get a video. Which is probably for the best, since me rolling around on the floor is certainly not my best "angle". ;)

Tonight when we started and she went to the middle of my back I just slumped over. She ran up to my shoulder, laughed and did a little dance (which I took for a victory dance) and then kissed me. Sigh... I eventually ended up on the floor, yet again, rolling over. ;) I am thinking I may have to get a perch to carry her back to her cage to avoid our nightly routine.

You know what Terri, I was actually worried about the perch b/c Rosie is not exactly a gentle girl. I figured she would just run up the thing before I had a chance to stop her. But I am getting desperate!! She is so darn stubborn and I can't imagine doing this when I'm 80!
