Wow Mare, by the look of that sky, you are going to get quite a bad storm. Maybe you will get all the much needed rain that you are wishing for?
I bet Amigo will soon fly indoors once it starts?

Love that photo. It would make a beauty of a siggy with Amigo sitting in the tree.

So glad you are getting rain!
What an awesome pic. So many cool elements, the sky, the tree and of course, Amigo with his feather up!
We had a wonderful, much needed, rain! This was all WITHOUT a rain dance but I'm sure all the positive thinking and wishing, helped! Amigo loved every second of it!

That is a very good capture of Amigo against an angry sky. :) Does he like to shower in the warm rains of summer? I would think all our birds would love to get out in the rain if they had the chance.
We've still had no rain, just the relentless cold *bleepin'* wind which brought our temps a couple of nights ago down to +6F. Brrrr!!!!! Weather forecast at 10:00pm last night said by Sunday we may have an inch or two of snow! :( Today it is supposed to be back in the 70s again.

Mare that picture is great. Did you go get Amigo? Are you ever worried something will get him outside? I ask because I am letting Mina's flight feathers grow in. I'm going to let her fly. However there is a hawk right out front in our tree and it keeps pretty close to the house. It terrifies me to take her out.
WOW Mare, what a fantastic photo!
Amigo looks like a wild free Cockatoo.
He seems to be exited with his raised crest.
It amazes me you just let him fly outside on his own.
I've never heard of anyone else doing that with his/her Cockatoo or parrot.
Well, I've heard of "freeflight" of course, but that is different.
Are you never afraid Amigo will get lost (that he flies to far away and won't be able to find his way home?) or catched by a predator?
How have you teached this all to Amigo Mare?
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Rita
Kim, be very careful about free flying your bird outside, and very afraid. Rita, it's a long story on how we got to this point with Amigo. If you are truly interested, I have some of it posted in the free flight section. It's not for the faint of heart (both bird and human), it takes a ton of faith and mostly, a lucky day. He has been taken down by a hawk, once, and is VERY aware of what is going on around him. He knows his territory and stays close by. I don't recommend free flying your bird like I do Amigo, there is a lot of risk involved, I know I could lose him to a hawk but at this point, I couldn't take this away from him.

Yes I agree. It keeps sitting in the tree right across from Mina's cage. I keep that blind down now so she does not get scared. Hawks are prevalent here in pa. I see crows chase them all the time. I may stick to keeping her flight suit on and lanyard. I couldn't bare to have anything happen. The hawk would have to come through me first.
