Has anybody got any good cleaning tips on how to get stubborn poop of bird cages?? I bought a bottle of poop off but wondered if anybody had any cheaper or more effective tips to share 😀

I love poop off! It's amazing! You can also use vinegar. That works very well too. (:

I also use vinegar and hot water. What I do is put the solution in a spray bottle,, spray it all over the grate and leave it for about 10 minutes, then I go back, spray it again and use a nail brush to get it off. The vinegar loosens it, so it comes off quite easy :)

I do have poop off too, but like you say, it is very pricey!

I use vinegar. I like to take a hot wet paper towel and sit it on the couple of places on the grate where it builds up while the bird is out of the cage! Amazing, it just wipes off in just a couple of minutes. I have four very large cages and most the poop goes thru the grate. AMAZING AND CHEAP. Saves a lot to time and money!

My military macaw seems to angle his bum and do a great big poop all over his door of cage

I use grapefruit see extract an hot water. It is a disinfectant and great at getting poop off if you spray on and let sit for about 5 min. A little scrub with one of those scrubbies for bird cages. I did try a regular dish one and it damaged my cage. I get it from petsmart or elsewhere. It is safe to use around your bird. Nina has water bowls I use it to clean those and I put 2 drops in to keep bacteria from growing. Once a month I use the mango cleaner an disenfectant to clean her entire cage. She cannot be around this till it is TOTALLY DRY dishes and toys MUST BE RINSED.

Do you do a solution of half and half Wendy?

Use whatever cleaning solution you prefer (I use FizzIon). A soft to medium wire brush and a putty knife are my stock tools of the trade (along with a touch of OCD)

To clean mine, I roll them outside and spray them with the hose. A few minutes later, I spray them with the hose. After a few times of this, I take about three parts water to vinegar, a scrubby and get the job done.

I don't want to damage the Avalon coating on my cages but I need something powerful especially for the military macaw & umbrella cockatoos as they poop everywhere & anywhere

I can't take cages outside either as they are far too big

For the grate a easy tip is after it is clean take a small amount of coconut oil on a cloth and wipe the great with it. just a small amount goes a LONG way. Nothing sticks to it! You also get a giggle from watching your mac lick the grate just after you put it back in...
