I've seen that and others like it. I like it. It's spot on about so many things.
I tend to dislike things like this. It is a presumptuous intrusion into someone else's life. If you are cruising the pets section in CL, you should be looking for a pet not a cause. People get filled with self righteous indignation if they don't agree with the reason someone is rehoming a pet. For many, it is because they can't or don't want to pay the selling price. And let's face it, whenever there is even a dime involved, it is a sale. Even trades are sales as you are receiving something of value. I have talked to people who have had that line about the shelter in them. They are trying to put across the sense of urgency so that, hopefully, the CL Crusaders, the wafflers, the time wasters, and the trolls might allow their pet to find a home. Because let's be honest, if you are not seriously interested in a pet, what business is it of yours?
Sorry for my rant, well not really. I had to deal with the effects of the CL Crusaders recently and it almost derailed the rehoming of a pet in serious need

I don't mind calling people out on things :)
Do you like it as much when people call you out on things?

To me, it makes the point that many folks objectify their pets, and that pets deserve to be considered and treated as family members. And to say that no one has a right to voice an opinion on folks objectifying animals -as if they were possessions ahead of anything else- seems like a callously indifferent view toward animals to me. Sometimes using a replacement analogy stresses a point well. I think this is one of those times.

While I agree with you on objectifying animals, our society sets that standard. Most State laws regarding pets treat them as property, free to be bough or sold by the legal owner. What people are doing on CL is perfectly legal, and as the laws of this country are said to reflect the moral fiber of its citizens ...moral. If you are genuinely interested in the pet, you have a right to voice your opinion in my view. If you are a crusader who gets their feel good moment for the day by blocking the rehoming of an animal just because you know the owner's situation better than they do, you are (again in my view) meddlesome at best. People rehome (sell) their companion animals for a variety of reasons, most are not malevolent in nature. If anyone can state that under absolutely no circumstance EVER would they rehome their pet, I would call into question their level of honesty.
I realize that my opinion is not shared by many here, but the OP did indeed ask for opinions. This is a controversial topic I can see, but in this digital age consider this: liking something on Facebook little to advance a cause and flagging on CL benefits no one particularly the pet.

This is a controversial topic I can see, but in this digital age consider this: liking something on Facebook little to advance a cause and flagging on CL benefits no one particularly the pet.CL is replete with unscrupulous individuals, such as bird flippers. It's not a prerequisite that a person be in the market for a certain animal at a particular moment to hold an opinion and take a stance against such practices, considering that they are so prevalent. Moreover, one man's morals may be another man's element of subjugation. I don't accord to certain "moral" views held by society when I personally find those views harmful. State and/or federal laws have no conscience, and thus are often blind to reasonable compassion. Despite that the laws of our land classify animals as property that may be purchased or sold, animals are sentient beings with feelings and perceptions. In my opinion, folks have the right -and arguably the responsibility- to voice their opinions if/when they believe that someone's practices towards animals are abusive.
I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
