View Full Version : With all due respect..
In regards to the Mishka site, I have to add that I have also been accused of posting stories for attention. This, for me, was so not true! Some folks have lives with their birds that are super special and I felt at the time of my posts, hell, they might be of interest. I know Antoinette is very proud of Mishka, gosh, who wouldn't be!? Maybe she is only being proud?
The cat thing is something she needs to take notice of and I can't believe she wouldn't know this.
Hi Mare. Our concern is that she is presenting encouragement for others to place their birds at risk in the same way. No matter how much pride someone may have in their birds and the situations they engage in, there is no justification for publicly spreading suggestion that it's okay for companion birds to have physical access to predatory animals capable of taking their lives in mere milliseconds! Bird safety should come first! Pride, sharing, and certainly social status should take a backseat!

Mare I realize I post a lot about my situation. I want to put this out there so people do know how fast it can happen. With the death of our Rottweiler in December, that meant Mina could finally go anywhere in the house. The only other dog we had was our pug. She and Mina loved each other. Olive was in Mina's room a lot. I was excited for both of them. I got her another cage for our living room. The first thing to happen was when we were eating Olive jumped up and almost got Mina's tail. I told myself she didn't mean to get her tail it was just her begging. The next thing was when Mina came down from her cage to get to me and Olive ran across the room to get her. I ran and threw myself like some football player between the 2. If I had trusted olive and had not kept one eye on her min would be dead. I did trust her. She is a pug she barely has a face. She loved Mina then one day it changed. Thank God I was there. Just always keep one eye on each animal.

Theres so many threads I have read on that forum .Of birds dying due to other pets .Its always gut wrenching to read. Its instinctive to pounce ,scratch bite. Our birds can die of the simplest interactions. I know I don't want to be responsible for that [I would die]. I know that if my bird got bit ,scratched, pounced on them.Or so scared it flew into a window [and broke something]. I have no faith in the 3 vets closest to me to save them.
Kim, for sure! Dogs and cats don't always mix and cats, birds and dogs don't always mix. I think that if we are aware and diligent with our awareness, there may be hope.
If I lived my life in fear of what could happen..I wouldn't be here, I would have had to leave this world long ago. If I didn't believe, Amigo would not be free flying.
Truly, there is no disrespect going on here. I understand how the administrators feel and how they have to do their job. In the end,,to each their own.
It's good that being logical, sensitive, and vigilant isn't the same thing as living in fear ;)

I've been watching that post & I'm terrified that something will happen to him. He is a special bird, just praying that he stays safe. :(
