You can see that when I call her by saynkg "Kom" (Translation: "Come") she flies towards me.
She lands at my shoulder and says "Lekker hè" (Translation: "Nice huh") just after her landing and by pure joy and exitement she also raises her crest.
She just loves to fly and wanted to let me know she enjoyed herself! She's such a sweet girl!
I'm looking forward at your responses at this video, via PP please!
Yes, my Maxi is fully flighted!
She's wearing an "Aviator Harness" when I take her outside.

Yes Maddy, Maxi in flight is such a spectacular sight.
I would say, take a look at my photo-album too. I've some "flight"-photo's of Maxi in it and also of CAG Alex and Greencheek Conure Kiwi.
All my birds are fully flighted!
I'll send you a friendship-request, so my photo-album will be available for you to look at!

I enjoyed looking at all of your pictures!
I think that is wonderful that you have all of your birds fully flighted! All of my babies are fully flight except for Jester, but that is because he plucked all of his flight feathers out in his old home. But they are slowly growing back, and maybe one day he will be able to fly! :)
Hello Maddy,
Yes, I saw you left a commend at 3 of my photo's! Thanks for watching them and liking them!
Is Jester your beautiful Cockatoo? Is it a Orange-crested Cockatoo?
Was he mistreated at his old home or not taken care for well?
I hope all his feathers grow back so he can start to enjoy the joy of flying too.

Yes, Jester is my amazing citron cockatoo. :th_heart: He wasn't very well cared for in his previous home. He was locked in his tiny wire cage (that looked like it was made for a squirrel), with no proper toys, for two years. I believe he pulled out his feathers during that period of time. Thankfully, he was surrendered to a rescue, fostered by my friend, and then adopted by me. When he first came into the rescue, his chest feathers were very scruffy, he didn't have any tail or flight feathers, and he legs were totally plucked. Right now, his chest isn't as scruffy, he has two gorgeous tail feathers (plus another one growing in), and at least five flight feather on each wing. His legs are still bare though, and I don't think the leg feathers will ever grow back. I have my fingers crossed that he won't chew off his new feathers, because he still kinda has the habit of chewing on them.
Hello Maddy,
What a sad story about the first 2 years of Jesters life.
I can imagine he was so stressed about his bad living-conditions that he started to pluck his feathers.
I just do not understand people like the first owners of Jester.
Why do they want an intelligent animal like a Cockatoo and then do not give it the care it needs.
Even worse, in my opinion this was pure neglect and animal-abuse. Poor Jester.
Luckely he was surrendered to that rescue and fosterd by your friend and then adopted by you.
When did you adopt Jester?
Fingers crossed indeed all his feathers grow back but the damage to the folikels (there where the feathers start to grow)
can be so large that there will never develop any new feathers there.
That might be the case at Jesters legs.
Maddy, how can I look at photo-albums from you and from other Precisely Parrot-members? I do not know how to do that yet!

I've just sighned in at "Photobucket" and created my first two albums there.
How can I add photo's from there "full-size" in posts at Precisely Parrots now?
I didn't like my photos showed up only as little thumbnails in my PP-posts ant threads when I uploaded them from my computer or the PP photo-album.

Actually, Jester is 16 years old. I can tell you his history before he was locked in his cage. He had two comes before coming to live with me. We don't know much about his first home, except for that it was with a woman and he lived there for about 5 years. He was then lived with the couple for 11 years, we think. We know at some point, the couples brother in law moved in with them, and Jester bonded with the brother in law. But after awhile, the brother in law moved out, and took Jester's heart with him. Jester got very upset and angry, and we believe he was not being nice to them anymore. That's when they locked him in the cage, and didn't take him out.
This was his cage, and all his toys. He didn't have that nice dragon wood perch in it, my friend added that while he was waiting to get a nice cage for Jester.

I adopted him in April last year. At first, we didn't think we were going to be able to get him because he was going to be adopted by someone else. However, about two weeks later I got a message from my friend, saying that Jester's adoption had fallen through, and I was able to adopt him. I started shaking and crying, because I was so very happy. A few days later, we picked him up. :)
Hi Rita! Maxi is such a beauty and she's obviously loving her time flying! I too, have a U2 that loves to fly outdoors and he loves every minute of it :).
Maddy, your Jester is the luckiest bird in the world to have found his way to you!

When you go to the page of one of the photos you uploaded, there should see a box that says "Links to Share this Photo". Under it, there are four codes. You want the one that says IMG. Click it, and copy it. Then paste the code into your post here. Your photo should show up when you post.
Here is a screen shot of one of my photo pages. You want to copy the code I circled in red.

Great video Rita, i love seeing people letting there too's outside, im lucky enough to have them here in the wild every day, flocks of too's, up until my maxx (eclectus) went on a 7 week adventure in the wild , i too free flew him and lexx(his mate) been to scared to let him outside since then but he will get back to it i just need to re train him, and me lol.
Hello Maddy,
It must have been so awful when Jester's "human", the brother in law moved out. He might have been angry and upset with that.
But to respon by locking him up 24-hours a day, that was so wrong. And that cage he had was awful too. Poor Jester.
Was he trained in the resque to help him overcome the traumatic loss of his "human"and be a nice bird again?
How come that other adotion did fall through?
How did you handle Jester to bond with him and to make him feel relaxed and happy again?
He's so lucky he found a loving caring owner in you that wants to put efford and energy in him to give him what he needs and to help him.
Maddy, thank you for sharing Jester's story with me!
Maddy, may I ask you what your age is. You are still young when I have to judge that from your little photo! I'm 50.

Yes, I can't imagine how upset Jester was when the brother in law moved out. I believe his owners locked him up because he begun attacking them after his 'human' was gone. It is terrible that instead of working with him, they locked him up. It makes me so angry that my baby was so mistreated. His foster home, who was my best bird friend, worked with him and began teaching him to step up and earn his trust. Jester lived in his foster home for 2 months before I adopted him, so I got to do the rest of the work. They told us that his other adoption fell through, but I think that the owner of the rescue, who is also my friend, talked to the woman who wanted to adopt him, and told her how bad my family and I wanted Jester. At least that's what my mother and I think. The first night Jester came home, he was very sweet. The second day, he was also very sweet. But the third day came, and BAM. He started lunging and trying to bite anyone who tried to touch him. For awhile, we had to use a towel to get him to step up. It took a lot of time, love, effort, and treats before he calmed down. The day he stepped up without a towel for the first time, I was thrilled. Right now, me and Jester are working on clicker training. He still has some step up issues, but they aren't anywhere near as bad as they were in the beginning. Jester is a perfect bird for me, and I love him just the way he is :th_heart:

Hello Turquoise,
I love it when my birds do fly. They fly often in my livingroom.
Letting Maxi fly outside gives me a thrill. I'm so proud at my sweet U2 girl!
I loved it too, that she said "Lekker hè" when she landed at my shoulder. That she let me know she enjoyed herself!
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Rita
