Thank You all for being so helpful!

So... some more questions, about the lineolated parakeet, because they sound like an awesome option, I read that even with proper hand taming they can become hand shy after maturity. How true is that? If I do get one and it decides for some reason it doesn't want me to handle it, what are my options as far as enrichment and exercise? I also read that they are territorial and can be cage agressive. Could there be a correlation between being hand shy and territorial? Would they be fine once I can get them out of thier cage? Can I just open the cage and allow them to come out on their own and midigate some of the agression problems? I also read that they can be sensitive to change. If I get one while I am renting and move, would the bird recover?

Casey, unfortunately I have no experience with linnies. Blanca (Blancaej) has recently added two of them for her kids. If she doesn't see this, you might want to pm her. She owns a candy store and gets pretty busy so she sometimes only has a few minutes to check in.

Thank you Debra. I will if she doesn't see it! I'm seriously thinking Linnie or Cockatiel. There is still something that really appeals to me about cockatiels as well.

Perhaps you could get one of each species.

Hi There, sorry I missed this! Linnies can be hand shy. Our Buttercup is not so bad but Blueberry is. We are continuing to work with him. You can still have them on you like your shoulder, head, etc. Blueberry has been skiddish from day one. It is more his personality more then anything. I have found no cage aggression in my linnies. The birds were for my kids. My daughter who is 7, owns Buttercup. They love hanging out together. Buttercup hangs on her head and shoulder. With the holiday season, we got busy and didn't get them out as often, but Buttercup hangs out with Morgan as if she never skipped a day. They are more forgiving when you don't have time to get them out. I would count that as adjusting to change well.

My daughter opens the cage to let them out on their own, then she gets Buttercup to hang out on her. We have a playgym on top of their cage to hang out on as well. I would definitely make sure you get a Linnie from a good breeder and pick the bird you like. From day one Buttercup was the adventurous one & Blueberry was the skiddish one.

Just an FYI - they poop a LOT! LOL!

They are sweet, adorable birds & make cute noises. We are very happy with our choice. Cockatiels was our second choice, by the way! :D

I have posted a few pics and threads about them. You can do a search. I would post links but I'm on my phone right now. Most of them are on the Linnie thread section. Hope that helps and good luck. Let me know if you have more questions. :)
