My little Mina's bedroom needs new flooring. I was wondering what you all have in your bird rooms? I'm worried about the adhesive needed to put it down as well. Right now there is carpet in that room. She has a second large cage downstairs in our living room that she can be put in temporarily till the room is done and aired out.

How about laminate flooring? This just locks together and does not require any sort of adhesive!

Rosie has hard wood, but it was there when she came. :)

Thank you everyone. My husband was doing some checking and some of the wood flooring has some formaldehyde. I'm looking at bamboo. I'm hoping I can find one that is locking. If not I think pergo it is. 😃

we have the laminate hard wood locking stuff..hehe, real technical there :P It's nice because we can just steam mop it but if I could choose I think i'd rather have the hard stone(ish) tile that we have in our kitchen, it can take a beating a little better and our guys have an awesome habit of bathing in their bowls and splashing water all over the floor, I know it can't be good for it in the long term!

I have bare cement floors throughout my home. It is very easy to clean as far as the birds are concern. No worries of water damage from showers as I use the pump spray container filled with warm water for them. Before my home flooded from the lake behind me in 2005 it was carpeted throughout. We had to strip that out and I wanted the ceramic tiles put down, but they are very expensive and time consuming to install yourself. So I just left the floors bare. We didn't have any of the birds at that time and I am very glad I didn't go back with carpet as my hubby wanted, but would have not been the one keeping clean. With the large, out of the normal enclosures the macaws are in, play perches all about and amount of birds I have there is no way carpet would work in my home!:th_eek:

Yes Maddy the carpet is a pain. I think I'm going to go with a bamboo or pergo. No tile I hate scrubbing grout grrrr.

We have real hardwood floors and I hate it. It is so hard to clean.

We have carpet, which I hate, one of these days I think I would like hardwood but with an all wood house, inside and out, it might be too much. Just want to tell you Kim what I've noticed about bamboo floors, not mine but someone else's. They scratch very easily and dent, even from just a desk chair. This person was really sorry he went that route.

Kind of looking like linoleum might be the best choice for a bird room. Easy to change out but can still look descent and easy to clean.
