Have you been feeding good food to the wild birds? The need the high fat and calories feeds now to help keep warm. Today I got some raw pumpkin seeds and mixed in their food, and more peanuts. I get food for the wild birds and my birds but little for myself. Just like other bird lovers.
I found this article interesting and learned some new things about our wild ones keeping warm.

I didn't know all that. No wonder my birds are going through the seed like crazy. I think I'll go refill now as my biggest feeder is only half full. :thanks4sharingthumb
My daughter and I were talking, just this morning, about wild birds and how do they survive in weather like is hitting the eastern states? Thanks for that, Dianne, I also did not know most of this!

I am guessing peanut butter would be good for them in the winter. Perhaps the suit feeders.

You are a very sweet bird lover Dianne. :th_hug8: Every bird in your area should be so happy you live close by.
Very good read and is true for so many animals in freezing temps that have to live outdoors. For most warmblooded animals their core heat comes from their stomach and a full stomach generates heat. But what they have in their stomach is also very important such as feeding hoofed animals such as cattle corn in winter cause it generates more heat than other grain feeds.

I never knew that Dianne. I want to start putting bird feeders up around my house and maybe go bird watching when the weather starts warming up. I know my whole family would love it!
