Im way more worried about and into my birds diet [than my familys ] ? Don't get me wrong theyre well fed [I just don't make a big deal about them]. I feel theyre old enough to use their own heads. Not like my guys who I know depend on me.:th_biggrin:

Well!!! Nope not bad at all, but don't listen to me. I'm not the most stable thinking non feathered flock member on the limb! LOL
I so get what you mean and I personally think you are perfectly normal in your thinking. Now if you were to ask my son~my only child if he ever felt like I cared for my critters more than him, you would get an emphatic~~ Oh Yes!!!! Mom loved those (bleeping) animals more than me! Then he would go pick a bird up and sweet talk to it!! :)
Gosh, Terri! If we don't worry about them, who will!? Kids can forage pretty well on their own, in the fridge and pantry. Our feathered family is totally dependent on us :). I had to be away from home, today, till later in the day and my husband calls me on my cell to ask if he should feed the birds!? Ummm...well, honey if you don't, who will? "Okaaay", he says, "I'm on it!" Nice of him to think of it, geez!

At least your hubby will go in to feed your birds Mare. Mine is afraid of losing an arm if he enters the big mac enclosures! LOL But then, most folks don't have walk in homes in their living rooms with a pesky macaw hanging from the open door. :)

Jerry is absolutely clueless when it comes to feeding the birds. He will change out water, but he has no desire to learn how to feed them. He leaves that up to me. Worries me thinking there may be times when I have to be gone overnight and he's home alone. I suppose written instructions will have to do in a pinch.
Well, De'Andrea, you've got a point there! Do your birds chase your hubby down? Debra, I bet Jerry can be trained :). Amigo will allow people to feed him just not touch, or pick him up.

I am the same. My family can fend for themselves...my birds can't. LOL Everyone is well fed though. :)

No they don't have Jerry down, but they will swing out on their play perches and take a swipe with their beaks trying to it him if he walks too close.
As or feeding them they will take a pistachio from him, but if he stand there too long it is a bite for daring to be so bold. And as far as filling their bowls, those are hanging on the inner sides of their en losures. So Jerry would have to physically walk into the cage to feed them and that's when he would really pay for invading their territory. I am exempt from their terror threats. They want me to feed them and they love me. :) Jerry is just 'The Other' in my home! LOL

Jerry sounds just like Brad De'Andrea! He can feed them a treat and loves them from afar, but they will take swipes at him, too! LOL! He does feed my fids as he can do it safely from outside of the cage. :th_biggrin:
Terri - I think it is totally normal for us to worry about feeding our fids. As they are totally reliant on us and we all know the ill effects of a bad diet. So as good parronts, I think we are all trying to strive to feed them the best diet we can so they are around for many years to come and are happy content fids!
