I thought we had lost these wild feathered friends as they had not shown up all summer. Now they have a little one in tow as well. It was so exciting to wake up and see them fluttering around. Here are a few pics of the Pale Faced Rosellas. They are really shy and will hide up the back until we move away from the feeder. I will aim for better pics and add them.

Lovely! Are they part of the budgie family? You guys in Oz are so lucky to see these lovely creatures in your gardens! :)

These guys are a kind of parrot. I think their are 5 or 6 different kinds. I can only remember 3 the pale faced, the eastern (thanks Arnotts!) and the green. Oh, four if you include the Crimson (thanks Emma). I am sure their are 1 or 2 more.

Yep there's 6 kinds... Crimson, Green, Pale Headed, Northern, Eastern, Western... In my bird book though there are also Adelaide Rosellas and Yellow Rosellas, and 4 others that don't have 'common' names, which all seem to be sub-species of the Crimson Rosella... Its all very confusing lol

The Rosellas are beautiful! I'd love to be able to see them in person. I think when I went to the San Antonio Zoo they had some with lots of other smaller parrots in a huge walk in outdoor aviary. I loved watching all the different parrots and listening to the noises. :)
