Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Josie was screaming, along with my spouse
The birdseed was filled in the cage side with care
But my mischievous parrot just didn’t care
The family sang carols and she fluffed up her head
And visions of birdy bread danced in her head
So Anita in her pj’s and me in my cap
Could not settle down, for any kind of nap
Then in the back room there arose such a clatter
We ran right away to see whats the matter
Then what to our baffled eyes did we see
But Riply our dog who just knocked down the tree
He ran for his life right past her cage
Josie started screaming…. now full of rage
The dog tried to climb under the couch
But his head just got stuck and he couldn’t get out
The bird thought this was funny and she started to laugh
Watching this commotion was just such a blast
Then the funniest thing ….. occurred to me
She has our sense of humor as I am starting to see
So after our disaster we went off to bed
With hopes that St Nicholas wont end up dead
So my Christmas warning is for Santa this year
Stay away from my house and go for a beer
But if you do come, and leave gifts behind
I would like some quiet and maybe some wine!
