I am finally starting to feel like the holiday season is here! I am a procrastinator by nature but it has finally hit me! :)
We put up our artificial tree with the help of Rosie. It was a new one and we had to pull all the branches apart which was no easy feat! Rosie was climbing all over me trying to help. My arms are not that long - I'm 5'2" - so I can only imagine what I looked like to anyone passing by our front windows. Lots of dancing, twirling, ducking and maneuvering to keep her from chomping the tree/lights. Rosie enjoyed herself thoroughly by overseeing her people and bossing us around. We haven't decorated it yet, I was exhausted from putting it up. :)
I made Rosie's Xmas cards while she supervised, periodically demanding an APPLE when she got bored. :). She seemed happy with the result so they have been sent out. I haven't done the family cards yet, but Rosie's personal cards will be delivered soon.
We have been listening to lots of Xmas music, that is her favorite at the moment. Lots of parrot singing, which I LOVE! Hopefully my neighbors do too!
It's fun to be Rosie during the holiday season!
Are there any parts of the holiday hustle/bustle that your flock seems to really enjoy?

Kendra ,we are the same age and the same height [but I refuse to admit it :0] I pretend to at least be over five four .So I feel your height challenges. At our house I have acquired a few more birds since last year. So trying to figure out where the trees going is not that easy [to my girls dismay]. I offered to just decorate Pearls [my goffins] white cage for the tree . Pearl could sit on top for the angel [but trust me Pearls no angel, he he ] but they wont go for it .So birds are moved [they have new neighbors ;)]. Our tree is up and the mantles decorated too. Now Im waiting to see who has a great interest in this stuff [so good so far] my macaw Rocky says "don't do that" everytime I turn On the lights. Our family loves to sing xmas songs to try and get the birds doing it too. They like to sing [its quite the sight] Tequila my zon sings his heart out all the way:)

When I set up my Christmas tree, Meiko just stared at it for a good 10 minutes. Haha He didn't seem scared of it when I brought him closer but he definitely wasn't sure about it!! Now I think he likes the soft glow that comes off of it at night when we turn it on. :) He didn't help set it up since this is his first Christmas!! I wanted to get him acclimated to it before I threw him in. Hehe He likes chewing on and hanging from the stockings though!

How funny, I used to add 1/2 inch to my height, but i just gave up. I'm short!! :). I just took a selfie of my 11 year old son and I and he is now a tiny bit taller than me. Insane!
I love the idea of a Pearl being the angel!!
How funny that Rocky doesn't like you to turn the lights on. Maybe he is being a good caretaker & doesn't want them to disturb Ruby and baby eggs?
I love to hear parrots singing, it makes me feel they are happy and it's just too cute.
You are going to have an awesome holiday season this year!!! I can't wait to read all about it.

My girls are 10 and 13 [my size ] the good thing now is we share clothes :)
We just got home from our vacation and am NO WAY set up for the holidays! Not yet, anyways:). The birds were so happy to see us, it was almost sad the way they were so happy, begging and bouncing and their sounds were different from their normal everyday voices. We took them out, right away, and gave them lots of loving! Cleaning cages and unpacking took up most of the day, tomorrow I'll start thinking about Christmas with the birds! :th_biggrin:

I don't decorate much anymore since it is just hubby & me and we never have anyone over for Christmas. Last year I did buy an artificial tree and decorate it only because another forum I was on had an ornament exchange I participated on & I needed someplace to hang the ornaments for the photos. Turns out I was the only one who posted photos of every ornament as I received it (all 12). The other participants started out posting photos & quit long before they got to the 12th. :(
Anyway, getting back to my decorating. That was Roscoe, Angel & Leyla Belle's first Christmas with me. I got Roscoe & Angel in Jan of 2012 and Leyla Belle in June of 2012. They were mesmerized by the blinking lights at first, then basically ignored it as I never allowed them to get close enough to snatch any of the ornaments or lights. If they could have they would have had a field day ripping the whole think apart. I have no doubt about that!! :th_hehe:
Thia will be Ruby Jewel's first Christmas with me since I got her in April of this year. So we shall see what she thinks of the tree & lights when I get around to putting the poor pitiful thing up. It is small and I barely have room now what with all the play perches to find a spot to add it. I will, but it is going to be tricky. :)
Kendra & Terri, I am in the 5'2" club as well, but I could never claim I was taller as all my family was taller than me. My brother of course was, both my sisters and even my Mom was 1" taller!! Wished I could say I was the same age! :( I do know the limitations of being a shrimp, but I feel really tall up side my friend at work cause she is only 4'11. I call her a 'Half Pint Heifer' a lot~~all in fun & she doesn't mind. Now she is short in my opinion!! :th_biggrin:

Terri - my daughter is 9 and I am so looking forward to being able to share her wardrobe!! She is the "diva" in the family and has a much nicer wardrobe than I do. :) I am sure she will get taller than me but it will be fun while it lasts!

It must have been awesome to see everyone once you got home Mare. I can just picture their smiling faces.
All we have done so far is put the tree and outside decorations up. When we get back from Nantucket we will do the rest. My daughter is getting upset that her Elf on the Shelf is still packed away. So I will have to stop procrastinating and get everything else out asap!! :)

De'Andrea - It's amazing how much room such small creatures take up, isn't it? They have so much stuff!! Kind of like babies and all their gear.
I am looking forward to reading about Ruby Jewel's first Xmas. :)
I love that you have a friend shorter than you! I sadly don't. I have a few friends my height, but I am usually the shrimp of the group. I am actually feeling very small this weekend. My 15 year old niece had a growth spurt and is now towering over me. I would say she is at least 5'9. I am envious of those beautiful long legs. :)

I just love the Christmas Card from Rosie, Kendra!! Will you please tell her thank you for me and tell her that her card will be hanging on my tree as a special ornament for my flock to admire. :th_hug8: That is such a cute idea you have of Rosie sending out her own cards and it is so adorable. :)
I finally figured out how to put my flock's photos on a card from my Photoshop. Not exactly like I wanted it, but they will work. Now I have issues with my printer and the alignment of the printer head, so they are not exactly the best this year, a bit of color streaking on the photos and my writing inside is off still a little. I did go through the re-align it through the printer several times & got it as close as it will get. :(

Thanks De'Andrea! I thought I would go the silly route. A parrot having her own Xmas cards is silly and for me, the more ridiculous the better.
I am sure your cards are awesome. I can't wait to see the finished product!!!! :)

Jade - I love that Meiko is enjoying the stockings so much. I'm with him, I love the glow of the lights. I can't wait to read about his first season!! :)
Amigo and I signed our cards today and it was NOT an easy task! He was saying "Hi There" to every stroke of the pen, and then some! It's quite an adventure trying to fill out cards and envelopes with a U2 helping!! :th_biggrin:

What a wonderful way to come home from a vacation Mare! You live in vacation land too! I do not decorate either. We always celebrate at a family members home way out in the country. There is a very tall tree each year. We also do not exchange gifts, instead we donate to the Maryland food bank.

Dianne, I like that tradition of giving to the food banks!
