OK folks, it is time to get the December Photo Competition underway.

The subject matter chosen by Dianne (Spiritbird) for the December competition will be: ~~Dirty Beaks~~A photo of your bird showing just how much he/she loves the foods you give them. Or maybe one of your flock has been a bit naughty and has gotten into some no~no which has left a telltale sign on their beak. This photo can be of one single member of your flock or the whole group if you have more than one.

The prize for this month's competition winner will be donated by Mare and will be a Manzanita perch custom made to fit your bird and cage setup. She makes them herself and will contact the winner about the right size and length once the competition is over. A very coveted prize to win and we all can use a nice perch made just for our feathered friend.

The rules are pretty simple:

1. Only one entry per member per competition.

2. Please include a little info and names about your bird(s) along with the photo. It will be used
to identify your entry on the poll along with your username. Also please give a little detail as to why you chose the subjects in your photo to best describe your idea of Dirty Beaks!

3. No copy write photos. Please make sure you are the owner of
the photo you enter.

4. Please, no photos that clearly endangers anyone or animal in any way that may be in your entry photo.

5. All photos to be entered in the competition need to be posted in this thread.

6. And the most important rule of all~~Lets Have Fun!!!~~

The competition starts today, the 1st of December and runs til the 21st of December.

The 22nd of December a poll will be added by Blanca with all of the photos in order of their posted date.

The poll will run for one week and will close on the 29th of December, unless otherwise noted.

I will announce the winner of the competition and post the winning photo on the 31st of December.

The winner of this competition gets to choose the subject/theme for the January Photo Competition.

So, let the competition and fun begin!!!!

Oh My Goodness! This competition has been up & running for 6 days now & not a single Dirty Beak photo entry to speak of yet! :(

Now I know there has to be lots of dirty beaks amongst our feathered flock here. How do I know you ask? Welllll, I'm guessing everyone feeds their widdle darlings, so those beaks haven't got a chance of staying clean when they dig into a big bowl of mushy home cooked food! :)

Sooo, I want to see lots of really dirty, but happy beaks entered here! I have to look through my photos and see if I can find any. My flock doesn't like their beaks dirty and usually get rid of the evidence before I can get a good shot of it. LOL

I'd really love to win that custom Manzanita perch Mare will be making for the winner. So if ya'll don't want to see me win it with only one entry, ya' better get to posting photos up. :th_hehe:

My guys don't like their beaks dirty either. Lucy is the only one who will sometimes get a dirty beak. I'm still trying to get her.

Yeah Really,Im going to have to make spaghetti and see who jumps in :)

Mare

Spaghetti's a good idea! I was thinking of hooking them up with their oatmeal and then seed bowl before they could clean themselves up!

Too too funny gals!! :th_LOL:

Debra, my Leyla Belle is the same way. She is the only one who will leave her beak dirty longer, but even 'The Diva' has to clean it off in a hurry if someone looks at her. I think she is the only one I may have a photo already of with her and some mashed potato beak.:th_pinklol2:

I just had a thought pop up.., I'll be donating this month so I don't compete, correct? Terri, you're going to have to get that spaghetti ring around Pearl for this one! :th_biggrin: I must tell you, though, Sassy LOVES spaghetti and last time she ate it she was stained orangey-red for a month!

Turquoise

Yep Mare you are correct, unfortunately you will have to wait til next month and then we get to see your funny Toos in action again. :th_biggrin:

I didn't say anything at the time cause I figured you would remember about refraining from participating. I will definitely miss you being in the running this month. :(

Oh, I just remembered! I have some popcorn face pictures of Little Amber! I hope I can find them. I'll try to do that later today.

This is the best I have. Not a full on face pic, but you can still see the popcorn all over her face.

Miss Molly is pretty proper, so this is unusual, but here she is with a messy beak. If she sees this, she will bite me, so please no one tell her I posted it. A princess must maintain her dignity at all times, you know. hee hee...this is definitely WAY beneath her. LOL

Debra, Little Amber is soo soo cute with her popcorn face! Looks like she was heading back to her lair to clean up before you could snap a shot. :th_biggrin:

Judi, Miss Molly is the cutest thing with that, " Gahhh, are you seriously going to stick that flashy light thingy in my face when I look my worse?" look on her dirty beak. LOL

Lets keep this up folks. This is funny already watching the looks on our birds faces when they are caught with a not so pleasant 'Dirty Beak'. :)

I came across another pic I could have used. It was Lucy Lu with a beak full of food. I guess I should have explored my photobucket pictures more often, huh?

Here is my entry for the Dirty Beaks competition. This is Angel, my Catalina Macaw boy with as dirty a beak as I can find from my flock. He is eating one of his most favorite human foods, baked potato. He is very health conscientious as he won't eat a french fry, but he loves him some baked or mashed taters. :)

You guys' birds must be much more proper than ours because I have so many messy beak pics I really had a hard time deciding which one to use! I have a great one of rasta the red lored with a noodle beak but I decided on this one because it's just so darn cute! This is Tucker and her messy beak...well, messy face lol.

If you feed your birds a mash or chop a photo would be so easily obtained. Sara that photo is adorable.

Sara, Tucker is so~~well, messy faced! :th_LOL: That is a super cute dirty beak photo. :) You have an advantage in a way over most of us. You deal in messy widdle happy beaks everyday. :th_hug8:

Dianne, that is very good advice to get a 'dirty beak' photo. So I ask you, "Where's your entry?" :th_pinklol2:

Terri, Ahhh Hmm!! You give us a description of a really great photo entry and you don't add it here? C'mon, I wanna' see this gross dirty beak.:wink-new:

Great entries so far, lets keep it up. I already know it is going to be hard for me to decide who to vote for. :th_faint: :th_biggrin:

What awesome photos!!!

I wish I could enter but Rosie refuses. She doesn't like soft food much and cannot stand anything on her beak. She immediately shakes her head and starts wiping. Diva!

I actually once ended up with a tomato seed in my ear from her shaking off a cherry tomato she was snacking on while sitting on my shoulder. Oh the glamorous life I lead. ;)

Awesome photos everyone!! I am so pleased to see so many entries this month.:super-happy-dance-s

Yes Mare you can vote no matter if you donate the prize. The only reason for not participating when you donate the prize is in case you were to win your own prize. We just think it more appropriate if the person donating not participate in the entry of a photo only. Sorry for the late response Mare, I have been a bit busy and now back on work schedule.

For the new to the forum folks, it doesn't matter if you just joined a minute ago you have full rights to enter the photo contest. We do not have a certain post count requirement for the photo competition. It is for fun and you have a chance of winning a prize donated by a member. So we encourage every member to participate no matter how long you have been with us.:dance55::hybrid:

Ok, thanks De'Andrea! I have a great manzanita, in mind, to take a branch from for someone's new perch. I've been thinking about the eucalyptus thread and a perch from that tree could also be made! Can't wait to see who wins! :th_biggrin:

Hey everyone we've had a bunch of Awesome~~Great photos this month for our competition!!

But~~~Remember, for all of you who have not entered yet~~You still have til midnight in your time zone or part of the world to enter. The competition officially ends tonight at midnight for Blanca which is Eastern Standard Time here in the states. Shhhh:zipped1: don't let anyone know I told ya'll, but I have inside information that she has been known to be persuaded to take a late entry as long as it gets in before she puts the poll up tomorrow. :bounce1:

And I personally want to thank each & everyone of you who have entered and participated in these monthly photo competitions. It's all of ya'll who make it a really fun & exciting month anticipating whose cute fiddie will be chosen and always remembered for their time in the spotlight as one of our competition winners!! :big_hug::yourock::th_goodluck:

And lets not forget to vote for your favorite photo when Blanca gets the poll up tomorrow. We can't have a great winner unless everyone, no matter if you entered or not votes! and you don't have to have a certain post count to vote, just have ta' be a member and love to have fun! :hybrid:

So many great pictures :D I've been arguing with myself about replacing my entry with one of the ones of maggie and her noodle beak that I posted in another thread the other day but one of my green cheek girls just left for her new home today and I'm missing her like crazy so I think I will keep the original pic I entered ;)
