I wrote this one night this week at work. Yep, another night in 2 tower and keeping my mind busy while watching the fence. LOL Terri I don't want to jinx your macaws or anything, but I did write this poem with them in mind. It is lighthearted and kinda' based on a much more famous poem I cannot take credit for. :)

I hope you enjoy this poem Terri, it is my gift to you for such a great job you have done with your birds. :th_hug8:

The Night Before Hatch Day
By De'Andrea M. Bray (Priddy)

T'was the night before hatch day and all through the aviary,
Not a creature was stirring, not even the chattering Lory.

The Conures were sleeping all snug in their nest.
With visions of 'Tropical Pudding Mix.'
They love it the best!

Then out of the night came a thundering sound.
Mama Green Wing screamed, "Pa!!" "Come see what I found!"
And there underneath her feathers so red,
Was a tiny widdle fabie with an adorable bald head.

Pa's eyes started pinning, his beak made a grin.
He told Ma to look, "Will you please check again?"
Mama Green Wing stood up and to everyone's surprise,
There were three widdle fabies, Pa couldn't believe his eyes!

Mama Green Wing yelled, "Pa, go fetch me some gruel."
"These fabies are hungry."
"Now hurry you fool!"

Pa ran past the Hawkhead who slept in the corner.
He jumped over the Goffin who woke screamin', "Murder!"
Pa scaled the wire, took a look in the bowl.
There was nothing inside, not even a roll.

Pa worried and waled, "What to do~What to do?"
Then a tap on his shoulder, "Here this is for you."
The Hawkhead had brought him a magnificent platter.
He told Pa, "Now go and stop all this chatter!"

Pa took the great gift and flew away happy.
He shared with his Red Lady,
They fed their new family.

The Hawkhead came later to check on the flock.
Papa Blue & Gold, Mama Green Wing,
Three fabies sleeping tight as a rock.

He raised his great wings and flew off to the right.
Whispering, "Happy Hatch Day to All"
"And to All a Good Night!"

Glad you like it Terri. It's sort of a funny perspective on how birds might act upon becoming parents for the first time. :)

You are most welcome Terri. :) I used some of your types of birds in it to make it more personal. I know you don't have a Chattering Lory, but your Lory didn't fit as well with anything.:th_LOL:

Thanks Blanca. I was just sitting there bored and going over the 'famous' Christmas poem it is similar to and things just started popping into my head about how parrots would perceive becoming new parents. So I then thought to myself~~Terri's macaws may become new parents so I will make this about them and use some of her birds to add a personal touch instead of just about parrots in general. :th_biggrin:

I love it De'! I can just see that happening at Terri's house one day. lol. I especially like the "Murder" part too. Sounds like something one of my birds would say with all the "whodunnit" shows I watch. lol
