I had a lot of rescue and pet birds at this time. I always had the patio doors open all day and everything seemed good. This was about 5 years back, then one evening two of my birds got critically ill one had a stroke, another was projectile vomiting, I also became very ill. We called in top avian vets , specialist of every kind you can imagine. More and more parrots were getting seriously ill. Scully my grey died on post mortem they claimed pdd but soon to be proved very wrong, more and more were getting seriously ill and so was I. Many started dieing and top vets were crawling the place trying to work out what was wrong. Then they said it must be psittacosis . All thru this I was getting more ill it took me 6 months to get help for myself as I was scared to leave the birds as things were so seriously wrong.
I can do the if only I went before scenario but it is too late to turn back the clock. It turned out the fumes from the boiler were flowing back straight into the house we all had toxic poisoning. I lost most of my birds over the next few years. I still have pip , coordination problems, cracker who can't digest seed or pellets and is on fruit and veg diet, Charlie who is mentally affected, woody my cockatiel who self harmed himself. There are a few others but their symptoms are minimal.
This is why pip has had a relapse, he had major coordination problems and it took a year to get him more stable about a month ago he had a relapse. This is the short version of what happened but I hope it explains a few things.

Thank you for sharing your story Dawn. I know it took a lot of courage for you to post this!

This was a very tragic thing that happened. You were not to know what was the cause of this tragedy. You put your birds health before your own, which just goes to show what a wonderful person you are. I know that you have major health problems over this too and are still battling with them.

You have fought tooth and nail to try and bring your remaining birds back to good health, which you have managed to do over the last few years.

We are all here for you should you need to talk, or share your concerns.

I hope Pip pulls through. :th_hug8:

Oh, my! I'm so sorry to hear this. You are a good parront, putting your bird's health before yours. Please continue to share your story on recovery for these precious beings with us. I wish I had more input on what to do for Pip to help him gain weight, but I think you've gotten plenty of sound advice. Hugs to you from Texas.

Wow, that is horrible that you and your fids had to go through that. Please ask if we can be any help. Sometimes multiple people searching the net for answers can cut search time and frustrations down. We will do all we can to help, even if its just support.

Thank you Debra and Shelly. I think help on the Internet sometimes would be well cool. As Wendy will tell you I'm the worlds worst on computers. I just found another way on here as I killed Tapatalk ha ha. It got stuck . Every day brings new challenges with all birds but health wise with mine it is a struggle to get thru.

I'm so sorry about what happened to your birds. I hope you found out who was liable and stuff because no boiler should be doing that!

Must have been so hard throughout that, and probably still is now, especially seeing your troubles with Pip. We're all here to help you with whatever you may need. Good luck with your flock.

I am so very sorry about the horrible situation you endured. You are wonderful to your birds and just make sure you treat yourself as wonderfully. Those babies need you to be healthy to take care of them!! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Just as everyone else has said, I am truly sorry to hear your fiddies had to suffer due to something you could not have known ahead of time. It is so hard to lose our feathered kids from things like this and wonder if you'd done this or that would they still be with you? No words from me can take the pain away of losing your darlings. Just know that I am here to listen, give support or anything else you may need to get past this and get well from the whole ordeal yourself. I am glad to hear Pip is still fighting the good fight and we will all be keeping you and Pip in our thoughts.

Please keep us informed as to Pip's and your progress with overcoming all of this. :th_hug8:
