RIP Devynn

[Maddy]

Devynn passed away sometime this morning.

Last night when me and my friend got the budgies out to play with them, Dev was acting very odd. She was staying on the floor, and flying worse then she has before. (She was never a good flyer) After some time she also started puffing up and holding her wings away from her body. She was also holding her tail up. She was acting exactly like she did in the car when I first got her before she laid an egg. Maybe she had too? Was she maybe egg bound? Me and my friend wrapped her in a soft sweater and gave her some millet. After some time she started vomiting up all the seed she ate all over me.

Around 3am when we went to bed, I put her in a little travel cage and prayed that she would make it through the night. She didn't.

I'm so sorry Devynn, I only knew you for a short time but I loved you so much. I hope you enjoy my little flock up in birdie heaven, I'm sure they were there to greet you.

Im sorry about your loss also. Is there anything that could have been done? If that had happened to me I would have done the same thing. What should be done if you think your bird is egg bound? There is nothing more painful than losing a member of your flock/family.

Maddy: Your loss of Devynn is so sad and I'm truly sorry :'(. She was indeed a beautiful Budgie. It can be hard to know just what to do for our beloved feathered ones when certain medical crises arise. Please take some solace in the fact that Devynn will never suffer again. She's free now!

I'm sorry this happened...something similar happened to our budgie hen...:(

The only bad thing about owning a bird is that emergency medical care is slim to none...unlike cats and dogs...I personally think that needs to change...it would save many a birds life....but finding an actual, qualified avian vet is a difficult feat..

But again...sorry for your loss
