Today, I cut amigo loose outside, it was a beautiful day and he was kept inside all day yesterday due to weather. My mission for the day was to cut some manzanita to make a few perches for his cage. He's going to be stuck in it for eight days, soon, and I'm trying to give him some new things to do in it. He followed me around, supervising, then we headed back to the house to refine the perches :)

He was really enjoying the sunshine until he heard me messing around with his cage in the house. If he was in the house with me working on his cage, I wouldn't get anything done, he would be all over me, so I kept him outside. Well, he did not like this one bit! He climbed the screen to the slider door and started munching on the redwood trim, not a good thing! I finally had to let him in but he was such a pest he ended up in his travel cage, just till I finished. So much for a free flyer!

Sounds like a typical parrot regardless the species. They always have to supervise everything that goes on with their stuff. The impish curious child comes out in them.:th_hehe:

My macaws are just as bad about pestering me if I am tooling around in their enclosures. I always have to put them on their play perches to just clean the floors. Even Angel who can't stand on his own finds ways to hang from the wire or perches so he can reach me & pull my hair or something when I am inside their homes.

LOL. He wanted to keep his beady eye on exactly what you were up too :)

Lol! He doesn't want the interior decorating done without his input! :)

He is so human. Very smart bird who really knows how to get what he wants!

That's so funny! Amigo does not like you messing with his stuff while he's outside. No amount of freedom is as important as his stuff being messed with.

Heehee! Yep, every last detail of the job I did, was carefully inspected once he got back into his cage which was kind of cool because it gave me a chance to make sure he could move around well with the new setup. So far, so good. I still have a few chew toys to put together and set up. I arranged all of his dishes close to the door, so that the person who will be taking care of our place, won't have to reach across him to feed and water him, that could be iffy! :th_eek:
