So I'm trying to gather some more information on two of our birds, they are both black capped conures, the ones band says AKK FL, so I know he's from florida but I'm not having much luck figuring out which breeder uses the code AKK. The other I'm a little unsure of, I believe it says D&S but I've never seen an "&" on a band. That's what it looks like though, and that one is from New York. If anyone has any idea who uses these codes, I would greatly appreciate the info :D

Thanks, I'll do that. :) I used to be on the yahoo group for legbands but I left because I was getting so many emails it was just a bit much. I'm now being told that you can set it so you don't get all the emails but can still be in the group so I may rejoin and ask there too :)

Have you tried Googling breeder's leg bands? I Googled it a few mins ago and found most of the sites tell you how to decode the info, but don't really give the breeders. One did have a list of breeders and a little description of the bands the ones registered through them use. I didn't see any for either of the band codes you described, but there may be other sites these breeders are registered under. The one I mention I found at [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]
Wished I could help more, but that is all I found so far.

Thanks for the suggestions, I did google various things but most of what I found was just explaining what the info on the bands means, and seeing as how I order my own bands every year, I already know that :p I even tried just searching breeders in those areas and seeing if any of their names could possibly use those initials but I didn't have any luck, I even asked most of the breeders I personally know and no one has seen these breeder ID's anywhere. The AKK one looks to be an L&M band so I was thinking about calling them and seeing what info I can get, they are who I order my bands through though and I know they won't generally give out info unless the breeder has specified that it's okay to do so. This is why I try to make my bands as obvious as possible. They have PA for the state, the last two numbers of the year the bird was hatched, FFA for feathers first aviary and then the birds number. These bands just have state, breeder code and number. And oddly enough, the one band just has the number "1" on it with the breeder ID and state. Seemed strange.
