New heater.

I just got a new heater for my bird room. I did check with the manufacturer and it contains no teflon or any other products to harm parrots. It is putting of an odor and I am concerned this may harm my bird. It could just be because it's new but I'm not sure. It did run it for several hours out of her room to see if I could get rid of of the odor. That didn't work. Would it be safe to use?
