So my zon Danny came in a tiny cage(20x24x31) After he calmed down and started to play after a couple months I moved him to a 28x36x48. Well he has stopped playing and just sits all day in one spot. I have his food bowl and water dish spread out so he has to at least move to get to them. It has been over 2 months. He use to walk on the floor of the cage even and he never does that now.
I am starting to think I need to move him back into the smaller cage and just up the amount of time he spends out side it. I have noticed a huge decline in his training sense I up graded his cage also. Any ideas , thoughts?

I would give him more out of cage time and perhaps some different toys to spark his interest.

One of the things I read when changing cages over is to put everything in the new cage exactly as it was in the old one. Not sure if that helps or not but since it's been 2 months, it probably would make no difference at this point. Did you have anything else happen at the same time of the cage transition? Maybe it is something else bothering him.
Does he have any favorite toys or treats that you could use to spark his interest to move around his cage more?

He may feel cozier in the smaller one. More secure in it.

I feel the same way about my Goffin Pearl. He came with the smaller cage of his 2 . He spent a lot of time in this cage . By my standards I want him in a bigger cage . But I feel he wont care for it [He likes his house]. I would put Dannys cage next to his old one .Leave the doors open and see what happens.

Well I put his old empty cage next to his one he is in. He all but broke his neck to get in it and is happily clucking away... It looks like I will set it back up and see if I can get him back to where he was.

He obviously feels very secure in his old cage. Maybe still keep the new one next to it and let him go in and out of it as he pleases. Eventually, he may decide he likes it.

I'm going to type this as best as I can but I'm on my phone so I apologize if there are some typos. Our BFA was the same way but after about a month and a half of sulking he finally warmed up to his new cage and now he is more playful than he ever was. What I would do is, if you have the room to do so, set his new cage next to his old one. Make sure you put lots of cool fun toys in the new one and even put some of his favorite treats inside. When he is out, leave that cage open and let him slowly check it out on his own time. The goal is to get him just as confortable with the new cage as he is with the old one. It may take awhile, amazons can be amazingly stubborn! But in time the goal is to get him comfortable on and playing in the new cage, then being ok with the door being closed but still sleeping in his old cage, then eventually sleeping in the new cage but still allowed in the old cage and then finally eliminating the old cage entirely.
