Hi everyone, I thought I would take a quick minute to introduce myself. Many of you know who I am already but for those who don't, I'll fill you in. My name is Sara and I run Feathers First Aviary located in south central PA. I have had birds and reptiles literally all of my life. We breed and hand raise american and english budgies, green cheek conures and as soon as they decide to lay, black capped conures as well. We also work in conjuction with another breeder to whom I raise a majority of her babies as well, including but not limited to lineolated parakeets, pacific and green rumped parrotlets(hopefully spectacled soon as well!), and crimson bellied conures.
We also have an umbrella cockatoo,Orion, a blue fronted amazon, Pretty Boy, and two red lored amazons, Rasta and Reggie.
The birdies keep me fairly busy along with managing our facebook page and website but I will do my best to post here whenever I can and I look forward to many informative conversations with all of you :)

Thanks for the welcome. How many birds do you have, I think we are close to eighty at the moment but a lot of them will soon be paired and going to other breeders :)

Welcome to our flock Sara.:th_greet13:
My you are very busy. I can imagine hand raising babies and many of them at that is time consuming.:th_biggrin: I know just the very short time of settling in 2 of my macaws and my ekkie girl after they came home with comfort feedings was an experience. I loved it, but I know I could never do it on a daily basis with many babies.:th_hug8:
I look forward to hearing more about all your feathered kids.

Haha yes, very time consuming but completely worth it. I think most of my friends have given up on expecting me to have any sort of a social life! And when I do go anywhere I usually have babies in tow lol

A very warm welcome to you Sara. Everyone, I am on Sara's list for a baby EB when one is ready to come to my home. It is exciting to know a quality baby will be on the way here. Hand reared EB are so rare on the east coast. Love those Linnies and crimson bellies tool When you get a chance we would love to see photos and read your stories. Thanks so much for joining us.:smiley-bird-emotico

Hello Sara! It's good to have you here. I used to breed cockatiels and hand feed them so I know a little bit about how time consuming that can be -- although not on the level you do it. That was my favorite part of breeding. But it got too hard to let the little ones go to new homes so I got out of it and sold my breeders. I'm now down to only 6 tiels and I use fake eggs to prevent any little ones being added.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! And Steve, I didn't mean it in any sort of competitive way by any means! I was just curious, the only reason I have quite so many right now is because I have a bunch of linnies and crimson bellies we held back to make pairs with for some other breeders, as soon as they all leave I'd like to get that number to closer to 50! :)

Sara, you will have to add your birds to this thread. Yours will bring the numbers up quite a bit :th_hehe:
