Well maxx has decided he is not coming in ,he is up a tree, talking his head off,but will not come down and i have to go out,so he gets to spend a couple of hours in the tree eating all the flowers.

They do have their own mind, for sure! :). Amigo is sleeping in his hole tonight. After getting back from the vet visit and learning all is well, I thought, why not? Why not let this bird be his own bird? Maxx will hopefully be fine :)

well it looks like he is spending the night in a tree, he has not come back down still flying one side of property to other, well now it seems he has decided to roost in a tree , so tomorrow he will be in big trouble for staying out. its 6 pm now and i can still hear him going off but he wont come home lol

Hope you find Maxx, Steve. I would be super worried that something has happened to him.

That is the main reason neither of my 3 that could & would fly (Roscoe, Leyla Belle, Peta) will be getting to experience free flight unless they escape without my permission. I would just die if one of mine were out all night & I didn't know whether it was still alive. :th_eek:

I am happy for those of you who allow your birds to take the risk. Mine will just have to watch out the window & wish they lived with ya'll. :th_hug8:

It's definitely scary allowing your bird freedom, De'. I do worry but on the other hand I see the happiness that my bird experiences. It's a hard call, do you let your bird have the freedom or do you keep them imprisoned. Unfortunately, it is up to us, not them :(

no he has not done this before which makes me think some one has got him as he would never leave lexxy especially with her sitting on eggs, she was not eating , but she is now letting Jerry feed her, which is good in one way in the wild they can have up to 4 males feeding them

Oh, I hate to hear that he hasn't come home! I hope you get him back soon. Lexxy needs him during this time on eggs.

I'm very sorry to hear about Maxx, Steve :(. If he merely became spooked by something and fled, at least he's in a native Eclectus environment there in QLD. As far as becoming spooked, that's one main problem in releasing a pet bird who hasn't been out in a long while... you can never be sure that the bird is not going to be startled by something and thus flee the area. Are there many predators to worry about around there? I very much hope he's okay :(

Well its been two weeks, and still no Maxx , eggs due to hatch in 3 days,1st week lexxy would not eat , i have since got her pass that, Tony the only reason he would not come home would be due to some one having him,the wild eckkies are another 20 hours away im just over the Queensland boarder and they are at the very top of Queensland, tomorrow i am seeing a friend who works on one of the many radio stations, who is going to put over the air ways for me and he will talk to other stations and get them to do the same,i am even thinking of getting out of birds all together as this has just hit me so hard and with every thing else going on Health wise im not coping with it, I WANT MY MAXX BACK.

it's the only reason i can think of , why he is not home, he would never leave lexx, and the last week jerry has been going off but not like he normally does, its like he is calling or talking to maxx, i dont know how good the hearing is in birds, but i cant hear him calling back, but i do know Macaw's can be up to 10 km /6 miles away in the bush and be talking to each other, got love discovery channel, so maybe he can hear him, so all i need is for who has him to see a poster, hear the radio today or tomorrow, see the add on line or maxx escape which he is very good at opening locks once he see you do it a few times.

He must be on your mind constantly. The weather is Spring there isn't it? I know he would not hear me from the US. Praying for Maxx to return safe and sound to his home.

I really do hope the radio broadcasts helps you find Maxx. And if the person does hear or see the posters, I hope they return him to you. I am really sorry you have to go through this, especially when you are dealing with your health issues on top of it. The last thing you need is stress. Sending hugs your way and praying you get your Maxx back!
