Current population is around 500 thanks to captive breeding and conservation efforts as well as a hugely successful education program for the people of St. Vincent. The St. Vincent also comes in 2 color phases like the Dusky Lory and Stella's Lorikeet.

There was one on display at Miami Metro Zoo, and years ago there was a gentleman in my area that had a breeding pair that have since been repatriated with all of their offspring. Honestly, when I saw the one in Miami, I thought it was a Bald Eagle at first because of the coloration

Oh My Word that is a decidedly gorgeous bird!! It doesn't even look real. Too bad it is so rare in captivity and in its native lands. That would be a prize to have in my flock. :)
