Hi guys I need some advice I have a 2 and a half year old senegal parrot and he's very nippy and sometimes aggressive. I try not to put him on my shoulder too much. He will chomp at my face but when I'm handling him he bites for no reason at all. There are times when he is very sweet though and that's usually only at night when I turn the lights down and he will come and cuddle with me and dosent bites me at all. But I can't understand why he bites for n reason. It's very upsetting and I need some tips please

Are you doing any training with him? Clicker and redirection training works wonders. These are smart little birds and love to work for treats. The more I work with my guy the deeper our bond is becoming. He is at the age where he is becoming mature and now is when you need to have a firm hand and show him that interacting with you is fun and positive. One of the reasons they will bite "without reason" is they become board, because when we are just hanging with them they get frustrated. They would really love to be doing something that involves moving their body and working their mind.

Hello and welcome to our forum. Can you share with us some of your birds history such as was he in another home? Where do you locate the cage and is he getting at least 10 hrs. of quality sleep at night?

Snickers is a cute guy !! Sorry I have nothing to add for help . But I can relate , my Gcc was in a petstore for a year. He is very nippy [I think its from being poked at by people]

Seems like you have a few issues going on here....as mentioned he is most likely entering sexual maturity and is pushing his boundries. Biting can either be reinforced or extinguished through time. In extinguishing the behaviour I would limit direct interaction that would allow the bite but would increase interaction where you are interacting in a positive way for both (you and bird) while taking away from biting. This leads to training. If not already, work on target training and from there teach him several tricks such as wave, turn around, shake head, eagle wings etc. This allows you to interact with the bird while he ISNT on you (hes on training stand/perch), creates stronger bond, stimulates the birds brain, makes it fun to be with you AND time spent not biting you should help extinguish behaviour.
Hope this helps,
Wayne

On another note I have found flight training vastly helps mitigate hormonal aggression and burns off excess energy, while improving the overall health of bird. Win, win, win situation.
