From what I can gather, they are a rare breed.

No they are a mutation, there are two breeders world wide,i have a post up about them, they are expensive and if I could import a pair I would

Yeah there mutations and as steve said very expensive in the US one would cost $30,000 which is £19,200 here in the UK very pricey but very beautiful i would say that this mutation is for sure a rich mans type of bird LOL. :D

They are the same mutation, the bright blue one is a male, while the blue and white one is a female. I would assume they are equally rare. I have to say of the color mutations out there the male ekkie is my favorite.

Yes, they are a mutation, but due to them being so rare they are classed as a rare breed.

thanks Wendy for that link, i lost that link year's ago, and could never remember it, bar the blue i dont really like the other one's, there is a pic out there some where of a pure yellow one like the blue;s

I know this is an old post I just became interested in eclectus when I saw this wonderful blue one. When I look at the other blue one you know what I notice? So rare,beautiful and expensive and it's in a filthy cage!!! What a shame. No bird should live like that. I wipe Mina's grill off twice a day she walks on that and has to eat and play with her feet. It's the least I can do to see she doesn't walk on poppy bars. Makes me sad to see this little beauty sitting there in a dirty cage.
