I have never had a bird do this, not at this age anyways. I was letting Danny eat dinner with me as he has slide backwards a little in his self confidence sense Paris flew in. Paris was NOT happy with this and made it well known. When I went to put Danny back in his cage he yelled as usual as he psyched himself up into stepping up. Paris went insane screaming and yelling at him "owie! get away!" As soon as Danny was safely back and she had stopped yelling I went to her. I had a little soup left in my bowl and offered her a spoon full. My other birds will all lick or taste out of the spoon. She grabbed it and started pumping like a baby? Anyone else have a bird that will do this? Do I need to not let her do this?

Yea I agree its not a big deal. She might be playing or just a behavior thing but it isn't a bad thing.

Jack does this ALL the time...even when he is toweled at the vet, the weirdo...I have only seen her do it a few times, though it wasn't spoon related. My vet said it wasn't a big deal - just a throwback to babyhood - he was hand fed, but I didn't feed him myself, so he doesn't have much reason to do this, either. Sort of like a cat "kneading" like a kitten...

Ooooohhh...get away...is THAT what she was saying! You are so good at understanding Paris-ese! That girl is lucky to have you!

I was hoping it was just Jack she was scared of, and that's why all the dire warnings when he got close...but obviously no bird is quite trusted around her treasured person. SO cute she is calling you Mama, if she ever did that to me I never understood what she was saying! Really hope all settles down with her jealousy/worry soon...I didn't think she would be so bad about it without Jack the jerk around...hopefully she just needs time to see the small birds aren't going to bite you...

My Savannah just likes attacking the spoon when I use it to put chop in her bowl! But like everyone else, I don't think it is anything to worry about. Hopefully my Savannah will learn spoon=good! LOL!
