It's that time of the year where all things cinnamon are out in stores. Can parrots eat the cinnamon pine cones or brooms? I'm thinking no, but I just thought I would ask since I know that cinnamon is good for them. It's probably not good in this instance, right? Thanks.

They have such a strong smell I would not think it would be good to even have them in the house? Lets see what others say and I will go looking for the answer also.
So went and did a lot of reading. It sounds like they are not safe to have even near your birds. I could not get a ironclad answer anywhere but most agreed that the concentrated essential oil used for this is most likely highly toxic. The bag in my barn even said "not for consumption" .
Now if you are after the smell you can take oranges and poke cloves into them and put out bowlfuls of them. They are bird safe and make a nice warm smell.

I used to gather fresh fallen Pine cones and render them safe for my grey. She was truly afraid of them for a long time. Here is a nice bit with instructions: [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]
