I'm thinking of removing the "cage" all together just because it's never closed anyway and he sort of freaked out the other night, something scared him and he knocked the whole thing down! I'm just not sure if he would miss this fake security? Any thoughts?

Is your house all wood ? :) I think you need somewhere you can put him to keep him safe [to keep him out of trouble].:)

With cockatoos in the house, I hope not! I think she just laid down a piece of plywood. :-)

Yes, our house is all wood, inside and out. This is why Amigo has been such an invasive species! Watson's cage is one of those dog pens that clamp at the seams, no lid. We don't lock him in, he has free roam of the downstairs. He is litter trained so no issues with that. There is a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs, the dogs have to ask permission to enter and Watson can't climb up. I'm just thinking, why have this fence? My thoughts are wandering to,,hmm..because?, not sure. Watson hasn't chewed on any of the wood,, yet! Do you think this space may be a security blanket for him?

I have a feeling it is a security blanket for him. He may get a bit stressed if you suddenly take it away. Its a bit like our Birds Cages are their little bit of security, apart from Amigo that is :th_hehe:

I agree with Wendy, it may be his security space. I'd keep it up. What a cute picture of him! I love that pose!
