Hi Everyone - Sorry it took me so long to get this done today. Work was super busy after being closed for 3 days! I had time to download the pics to photobucket but that was it. I didn't even really have a chance to come on the forum all day! My candy cases are empty! It's been a busy month. So I will be very busy making chocolate for the next few days. If I'm not around a lot in the next few days, you will know why! LOL!
I got home about 9:30 last night and I was so happy to see Quincy & Savannah. I let them out for half hour even though it was late! They went to work with me today so I could spend some time with them! :th_biggrin:
Anyway, the visit went great. There were some contractors there and Linda told me that they make Coqui a bit agitated and I do believe she was on edge a bit. She was covered up when I got there. They were trying to calm her down while the contractors were upstairs.
She was all puffed up when they removed the cover. But she came right up to the bars to see us. Linda was able to get her out onto her portable perch and we all went on the enclosed porch to have lunch. Coqui played on her play gym. I talked to her off and on. She is very animated! I loved watching her. Linda said this was the best she has ever been around strangers. I told her, she knew parrot people when she saw them. LOL! ;) Linda & Luis both felt this was a great sign!
I found Coqui to be a bit high strung and more aggressive then I expected. Mostly to Luis. He does not read her body language very well and agitates her but doesn't stop, then she bites. Even Linda has commented to me about this before our visit. The high strung part could have been from over stimulations from us and the contractors being there.
I was able to talk to Coqui alone for a few minutes when everyone was inside. She really was listening and was lifting her claw now and then. I didn't try to have her step up just yet. Linda has never been able to get her to do that. So I was going to just give Coqui her space for now. Linda came back and sat down and I raised my arm up to Coqui to check me out. She played with my watch then rubbed her beak on the side of my arm gently and then started tapping her beak on my arm, which I discovered was her regurgitation motion! I thought these were all very good signs that we are going to get along just fine! So all in all a really positive visit! With a little time a patience we will be buddies in no time!

Right before this pic was taken, Coqui was looking at me upside down. So I joined her. She was so darn cute!

My favorite photo of Coqui I took! I am going to have it framed for Linda & Luis as a thank you for letting me adopt Coqui

It all sounds very good, Blanca :). Coqui is one beautiful B&G! Keep in mind that in addition to the presence of the contractors, and despite that Coqui warmed up to you quite nicely, you and your family were still more or less strangers to her, too. So based upon your description of her responses, I'd say she did very well and that she rather likes you :).
The pictures are fabulous! I'm just sure that you and Coqui are going to be the best of buddies :D. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us, Blanca.

Thanks Tony & Your Welcome! :D I really enjoy sharing all this with everyone here on PP! You all get it and understand the excitement of owning companion parrots!
I agree, even though we were strangers she took to us very well! All good signs that we were meant to be together! ;)

Its funny how 2 Months can fly by normally, but when you are eagerly awaiting something it seems like 2 years LOL

Lol! That is so true! My daughter starts 2nd grade tomorrow. So I'm sure it will fly by! Plus, we should get the Linnies in a month!
Busy bird family & lots to look forward to!
Is this how it usually goes, have 1 bird for 13 years and add 4 more in one year! Lol! I'm done! :p

When it rains it pours, Blanca! Coqui is gorgeous and I'm really happy your visit went well! How long are baby macaws kept from hatch to selling date? Is it more than six months? Just curious, I know you want a baby that's weaned, for sure.

Hi Mare - Coqui is a 10 year old rehome. :D The reason they want to wait until Oct. is the MIL owned Coqui and she is visiting in Oct and they want her to see her one last time before I take her. She lives in Puerto Rico and is 94 yrs old!
And the Linnies wean in 6 to 8 weeks.

Oh, wow! Sorry, I missed that! Here I was thinking you were bringing home a baby! :) (I did know the Linnie's were)

That's ok Mare! It's hard to keep up with everyone! LOL! I'm glad I am able to take in another rehome! :D
