Some of you may know that I wanted to adopt a b&g macaw that was up for adoption in May, on PF. But it was just too soon after I adopted Savannah. My husband was definitely not ready, so I was really bummed to say the least. I was planning on adopting a baby in about 2 years or a rehome if we could find the right match.

The b&g I am referring to is Coqui. Plans had changed and Lindylou (PF member) really wanted me to adopt Coqui (and I really really wanted to adopt her) So I talked to my husband again and this time he said "yes"!! Yaaaaahooo! Thank god he had a change of heart. And I have to say, he is quite excited, too!

We are going to bring Coqui home with us this fall! We are so excited! Here is a picture of our beautiful girl.

We are planning our first visit with Coqui in August. She is 3.5 hours away, so the visits have to be planned well in advance. LOL!

I am excited to meet our newest family member! I am so glad Linda picked us to give Coqui a forever home. Our entire family can not wait to have her join us! :th_biggrin:

You better believe it! Lol. I do want to try to keep on track with the weight. I gained 11 pounds after adopting Savannah. I don't want to do that again! ;)

Hey Blanca, that's such amazing news! The best of congratulations to you on gaining your husband's approval :D. I too remember when Lindylou decided it might be best to find Coqui an ideal forever home several months ago. I'd say she has succeeded quite wonderfully in doing so :). You are the perfect choice!

Coqui is an astonishingly beautiful B&G... a very, very nice looking bird! I'm really happy for you :D

Thanks so much Tony! That means a lot! :D She is a beauty! We are counting down the days to picking her up this fall. Lots to do though, I am turning my current living room into a bird room and hope to get it done before we bring her home. That means we have to get our new living room ready before I can even start on the bird room. Lots of renovating will be going on! I will be sure to post pics as it comes along!

Very exciting! Not a day goes by where we are not talking about her. The whole family is very excited!

Yes, my hubby is a keeper! He really knows how to surprise me! When I asked him this last time, I thought for sure it was going to be "no" again! But nope, it was a big "yes". I almost fell on the floor. LOL!

She does look like she is full of personality. I've seen some videos of her, too. And you can see she is a fun little girl. If she bonded with my hubby, I would be totally ok with that! :) But I do hope that all of us can interact with her. So far Savannah is starting to let the kids pet her and Brad can also get her out of her cage on a perch. So she is coming along great when it comes to socializing with all of us!

She is beautiful, Blanca! She looks like a sweetheart, how old is she? Congratulations, too!

She is 10 years old. She has quite the interesting history. Linda's FIL bought her for Linda's MIL when she was 9 months old. Linda's MIL was 83 years old. Not really a good idea. They live in Puerto Rico. The bird lived in a aviary outside for 8 years of it's life. Someone would feed her and she would be left until the next morning before she would have company again. Besides the gardeners. Linda would visit 2 to 4 times a year and would spend time with Coqui. So Coqui bonded with her. At 93 her MIL decided she couldn't care for her anymore so Linda inherited Coqui. She is not a bird person, but new she wanted to take her because she didn't want her to bounce from home to hom. She has done so much with Coqui to prep her for a transition to a forever home. Coqui has come a long way from being left outside all of her life. The last 6 months with Linda has really transformed her for life as a pet. So we are looking forward to working with her more.

Wow...I love her story. Thank you for sharing it and congrats with Linda choosing you to place Coqui with. I am sure you will make a wonderful home for her and love her forever. I look forward to hearing more about her adventures with you and your family. She is a beautiful parrot and her health seems very good they must of fed her very good foods when she was in Puerto Rico.

Thanks Rebecca! She does look very healthy to me as well! Believe it or not she was on a pellet and sunflower seed diet in Puerto Rico! At least they had her on pellets, I'm sure that helped. Linda feeds her zupreem pellets, fresh fruit and veggies, pasta, rice, etc. So she really has done a good job in getting her on a good diet! I am sure we will have many great adventures with her and I will definitely be sharing those adventures with all of you! :D
