I have a video of my Catalina macaw boy, Angel. He is my boy who was born with leg disabilities which prevent him from standing like his normal brother Roscoe. I brought him outside for the first time since he came to live with me in Jan of 2012. He did wonderful and was able to lean on my arm without a towel to steady him like I have used in the past. Angel is a pleasure to own & no trouble at all. He can't stand, but he can climb with the best of them! He enjoys a full life and accepts that he has to do things a bit different than his rotten brother. :th_LOL: Also for those wondering, Angel cannot fly, he is in no danger of escaping from my arms. His wings have the same disability as his legs.

Angel has the most calm personality & is just totally sweet! If any of you ever come across a parrot with disabilities of some kind, please give them a chance & don't pass them up thinking they will be too much trouble to be worth it. I have two macaws who are not perfect specimens, Angel & Ruby Jewel. Angel due to a birth defect, Ruby Jewel due to circumstances caused by her Daddy GW. Both could not be easier to take care of or love. And both are the sweetest two macaws I have ever met! Neither are rescues or re-homes, I chose them as babies knowing they were not perfect! They are the loves of my life along with Roscoe, Leyla Belle, Peta & my budgies who are all perfect specimens. :th_heart:

He's gorgeous! I used to take in special needs budgies from some show breeders in Dallas. They would just give them to me. I had to stop taking them in as I ran out of room, then they quit breeding. I'm now down to 2 and they are getting old.

What a beautiful and sweet boy Angel is, De'Andrea... it's so touching! You are such a wonderful person and it's easy for me to see that your babies are as lucky to have you as you are to have them :)

Thanks Wendy, Alison,Debra, Tony & Mare for the compliments. Angel thanks ya'll too.

Debra, I understand why you took those budgies in. They are some of the sweetest little birds you could ever love! I was given a budgie by a local pet shop that had twisted toes a few yrs back. The owner of the pet shop said folks coming in were horrified to see this little blue bird waddle around on her elbows with the normal budgies. She knew I keep all kinds of animals, I have only been going to her shop for over 30 yrs. I took the budgie home & named her Lacy J. I made her Mesquite bark ramps so she could waddle up to a low perch & feel like she was roosting with the other budgies.

This was the reason Angel's breeder decided I would get to take him home with Roscoe to live with me. She wanted someone to love him for who he is & not what he should be.:th_biggrin:

Mare, I think you are an awesome person with how you & Amigo have a unique relationship. You have done what many of us would love to do with our birds. That takes a special person with a good heart to have that kind of relationship with your parrot! I do so admire you & Amigo!!:th_hug8:
