My lovely baby bird started "gently reminding me" that she was still covered. This was accomplished by bellowing "EVAN!!" Evan is Josie's moms oldest. He has never uncovered Josie but she likes to yell his name anyway. I called to her and said "Evans not here, but I can uncover you" The response was immediate and clear. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! MAAAAAAAAAAA! EVAN!, ROB!........RIPPY!
So apparently I rank below the dog on the list of human/dog minions. Being the good Daddy I am I decided to uncover her anyway. This was my first mistake today. For my insolence I suffered many "nips" to the fingers trying to unclip the cover. Josie laughing all the while of course. It was not going well. I decided on another approach, BRIBERY. With a walnut in hand I peek around the cover and attempt to bribe her. Ok I haven't had much coffee yet and didn't quite think this through. A walnut doesn't slip through the bars. I can't open the door she is blocking it and now she wants the bribe. I quickly pop it into her food dish, all the while I am underneath under the cage cover. I reach up and unclip the left side. Success!! Now for the right side, the harder of the two. But she is ready and in the corner waiting screaming MAAAAAA!!!! EVAN!!! HEATHER!! I go for the bribe again grab another nut but she's not having it. I MUST BE PUNISHED. I use my best moves trying to redirect her with what must have looked like a satanic hooky pokey. She is faster and apparently smarter because it was a failure.
So Josie's MOM..... enjoying your quiet day at the office. The bird is half uncovered and I gave her water. Oh also we are out of band aids.
