Ok guys just doing some research for my local pet store. Do you know of any good bagged large parrot food that is reasonably priced with lots of nuts and bigger chucks of stuff in it?

My boy hates corn and loves stuff he can hold with his foot so I want to switch him but I haven't found something to switch him to yet

Hi Luthien,

I'm sure you will get plenty of replies as there are different species of birds on this one. I learned about a site from this forum and have ordered their brand of food as well as toy parts to make some home refurbished toys. The site is called My Safe Bird Store. They sell many types of bagged name brand food as well as pellets, but what I tried was their own brand and it continues to be a success with Lady. They have an option where you can pick from the name brands they sell to make your choices closer to what you would want in a blend for around 60 US dollars, not including shipping and tax. I have not done much research on other places so this thread will be of interest and value to me.

Here is the link to the site if you would like to check out: [Users must be registered and logged in to view attached photos or hyperlinks]

Hi Luthien,

I get Rosie, my GW the Bird Paradise Ultimate Blend. I actually got her from Bird Paradise and this is the food she ate to supplement hand feeding. I have also ordered from mysafebirdstore, and I like their food as well. But Rosie just prefers BPs blend. I always get an OHHHH, when I give it to her for the first time after the msbs blend. :)

You can usually find coupon codes for both stores. They both have facebook pages and email lists with coupons.

Here is the link to Rosies favorite food:

PS - I always stick the food in the freezer for at least 24 hours after getting it. After an ugly pantry moth infestation, I always prefer to be safe than sorry.

Luthien Have you decided which food to get?

Pretty much everything I see here is small stuff, ya it might have the odd nut thrown in but everything that has some really big stuff in it is like $106+. I'm looking for stuff that has very few small things in it (my boy just chucks them out and wastes) for a reasonable price, like a 9 pound bag for $25-30

Ahhh....that would not be what I recommended. It is usually 75 - 100 a month for Rosie.
